Re: Jumpgate Colocation Change Coming
uh.. what exactly is a "colocation provider"? I gather from the context and syntax that it has something to do with the machinery the game runs on and it sounds like all the machinery will be in the same place. Why wasn't all the machinery in the same place to start with? Or was it? Would someone like to explain it to this moron please?
The posibility that I would be able to run both Classic and Evolution on the same machine is great. It gives me an even better excuse to get a new computer and get one with Vista. The idea that Jumpgate will somehow be better is even more wonderful. |

Now I'm not quite sure, but I think the Jumpgate Classic server is either still in Scorch's basement(unlikely) or it's at their main office. Either way, the transplant really should show us some drastic improvement over the old equipment and the new facility it will be going into. |

Re: Jumpgate Colocation Change Coming
They all play great now with the recent updates. And I can use more than 3 GB of memory.
It's fine as long as you have the newer hardware. The problem with Jumpgate is the 16 bit installer won't run on a 64 bit system. And I can't afford another OS for dual boot. I'm sure they will work it out for Jumpgate Evolution but I don't have hopes for Jumpgate. |

Re: Jumpgate Colocation Change Coming
They don't but Vista requires a lot and many games aproach 2 Gigs and that causes issues. Heck, even Railroads used 2 gigs when I played it with my kid. It would crash from running out of memory until I went to 64 and now I can use the whole 4 GB. Things have just been much smoother since I went to 64. I am playing Bioshock and WIC with no issues.
Plus, when 32 bit limits you to 3 GB it includes your video memory in that so your screwed. |
