Just got this email. For those of you that haven't here's the scoop.

You will have noticed by now that we have launched a fresh new website and forums through our publisher Codemasters Online's existing web space. We've done this for numerous reasons, but the most exciting of course is that we're getting ready for the testing process. We know that this may create some confusion for our existing fanbase, so we wanted to send out a letter to help you through the new registration process and address any concerns that you may have.


In order to prepare for this testing process we need everyone to re-sign up to Beta. We know that this is inconvenient for a lot of you, but we feel that by using the CodeM system, we'll be able to better select from our pool of applicants. We all want Jumpgate Evolution to be an incredible game and believe that by using this system, the process will go more smoothly.


The first step to get signed up to Beta and registered for the forums is to first visit the new Beta sign-up form and follow these simple steps:

1. Click the "Beta" navigation button and then click on the "Sign up to Beta" sub-navigation button. This will first take you to the CodeM registration form which will help you submit your Beta application and use the Jumpgate Evolution forums. 2. If you have an existing CodeM account you can enter your username (this is the e-mail address used for signing up) and password in the fields provided. If you don't already have a CodeM account then you can fill in all of the registration fields to create one. Once you have created an account you will need to activate it via an activation link sent to the e-mail address you provided (you should open a new internet browser window to do this) – this e-mail will also provide you with your login details.
3. Once you've registered for CodeM you can proceed to Beta sign-up: http://www.jumpgateevolution.com/Beta_signup.php and fill in the remaining Beta sign-up fields.
4. Now that is done and you have successfully signed up to Beta, you will want to login to the forums. You can access the new Jumpgate Evolution forums here - Codemasters forum - Jumpgate Evolution. Again, you will use your email address as your login. After logging in, you will need to choose your forum screen name. We realize that some of you might need to choose a different forum username than you had used previously on the old forums. If there are any problems in this process please contact us at Jumpgate@codemasters.com. Someone will be able to address your concerns as soon as possible.

Let me help explain to you what CodeM is for those of you who may not understand the reasoning behind this move. CodeM is a members database for Codemasters Beta programmes, newsletters, single player game registration, forums, custom community programmes and customer surveys. It has all the functionality we need to run a successful Beta programme. It lets us organise the Beta and mail you information about the Beta including the invites when the time comes.


If you've already won a Beta slot please sign up again so that we have the ability to send you a key when the time comes. Also, we will be standing by our promise to give access to our faithful Jumpgate Classic customers. That means that if you are currently subscribed to Jumpgate Classic, you will be given closed Beta access. You will also need to sign up for Beta through this system however.

ohhhhhhhhh.. I get it.. so now they can email the beta testers. man.. if only there were some other way to email folks without using codemasters, this whole thing could have been avoided.

Codemasters will be running the beta. Why wouldn't they send out the email and handle the app process?

They should have at least created two e-mails. One for people who have signed up, stating, we have your beta app, and another for people on the list who arnt on the new beta sign up.

I've been a CodeM member for years, though lately I haven't been as active as much as I was in the beginning. The signup was easy for me for this reason I guess Someone had already taken my username on the forums though...grrr

Just realized after reading other people's posts, I probably took my own name unknowingly by updating the e-mail address associated with my account...which happens to be your login.

Looking at the Beta sign-up page at Jumpgate Evolution I see there's a sign-up for guilds as well. Are we going to sign up a guild for JSR or are we all just signing on the beta as individuals?

Actually net, you DO need to sign up again! I heard them say that they will only accept people with the word 'etbu' in their names if they sign up 100 times!

Kidding aside, I just signed up, both individually and for my squad/company/guild/nondescript group of pilots and took less than 30 minutes to do both. So, I guess I don't see how it is quite as complicated/hard as people made it out to be at first. I do agree that it gets old having to sign up for beta so many times though.
