Re: Jumpgate Evolution: Some Observations of The Meet and Greet at GDC 2008.
LOL @ biteme
Jump: Great article. So far, seing the game from many's eyes... I could understand and feel it but NOT to the level you 'displayed'. Everyone sees the game from their playstyle point of view and honestly dont think I've read a review that matches so much to what Im looking after in Jumpgate. This definitely forces to review many squad's future in Jumpgate Evolution, I can definitely say that we'll be miners again (one of the best things we do as a squad) but crafting becomes interesting... and seing that PvP squads might NOT need a crafting squad and rather do things themselves... would mean that perhaps those wanting to do some crafting will be forced to have PvPers on their squad as well, as it serves two purpouses... protection and able to pick up pvp loot, which will be vital for some crafting. The StormRaiders have never been truly Carebears (as Rebound pointed out on Jumpgate Evolution forums) and as such, Its going to be interesting what will happen this time around. ELP |

I knew the game was going to be full of eye candy so seeing myself was not as important to me as "what kind of death penalties will there be" and "Are the AI going to replace functions that squads have provided in the past" |

Well, He said the missile lock was only added 4 days prior so that may have been new to you. I envy you guys having the 3 on one in Vegas. I don't do well in large groups. My mind tries to hear all discussions on the game from every corner and usually ends up rebooting a few times.
![]() I could have probably added more detail but we have the house of flu here and the trip to GDC set my back out of wack again. I can see now why they are hesitant to release video. The one on their site looks so great but it doesn't come close to depicting the depth of the game and it's visual immersion. And don't let Hurricane fool you, HCs_Cutie had to constantly wipe the drool from his chin. ![]() |

Re: Jumpgate Evolution: Some Observations of The Meet and Greet at GDC 2008.
Nice write up Jump. Not much for me to add. Everything I saw looked great. I think the thing that impressed me the most, as a programmer, what that Herman was running the client, the server and a few other apps on a Dell XPS laptop. It all ran great until after they blew up the station several times and left all the junk there.
It was great to meet the ND gang and the players. ND's response to the players is awesome. Everything I saw just makes me want to play this game even more. ~DS |

Jump/Hurricane
Excellent comments from you both, this makes me feel a whole lot better. Hopefully I will see for myself at the Codemasters event May I suggest you post this on to the ND forums, as its the best advert for Jumpgate Evolution I have seen so far. ![]() |

Well, this is for this site, they can post their own news. While everyone may not post here, they all lurk here.
![]() Hi DS, it was nice meeting you as well there. It's amazing how many events can get crammed into a couple of hours. |

The team astonishes me with how fast things can move. Yet I'm still wondering how we can get it all done by release, much less beta. Hopefully the true, full alpha phase (feature-complete, but being debugged) will be very brief, since we're absolutely doing a lot of debugging and polish as we go. |
