Re: Jumpgate Evolution: Some Observations of The Meet and Greet at GDC 2008.
Doing the same thing all the time becomes mundane, repetitive, boring, been there done that.

Re: Jumpgate Evolution: Some Observations of The Meet and Greet at GDC 2008.
Jump, this is a very well written article and thank you for posting it.
I meant to read it earlier but noticed the sheer amount of info would require some time set aside. I hate you now though, originally i was keeping my emotional distance and now I am actually looking forward to release and will be very disappointed if the game is actually bad. Anyway sounds like you had a blast, I'm looking forward to doing the same later at connect in Birmingham. Meeting people and the like, I don't have the same connection with Jumpgate Classic players but I am however meeting an online mate I've known for 4 years and never actually seen. Cheers Jump. Lordopic is quite right btw... why is this type of emotive article not on the official forums? |

I don't really think Jumpgate Evolution is going to fail to deliver. Sure it may have some things we like and some things we don't like. But I think the game is in good hands. Not just with NetDevil and their part, but also with the community that has hung on for so long and all the new blood that is excited. Sure we fight a lot but we all want Jumpgate Evolution to succeed and out of those fights and much debate in beta will arise a good game. Jumpgate has persevered and is going to get it's due. Thanks for the kind words. This is where we will differ. While I understand and appreciate the compliment when people say this, I as the webmaster of this long standing site, also find it insulting at the same time. No one would dare go to Ten Ton Hammer, IGN, mmorpg or any of the other sites and keep telling them they should put their articles on Jumpgate Evolution forums. So why do they do it here? This site has been a source of Jumpgate info and community long before that site was even a gleam in Scorch's eyes. You just don't realize how many people lurk here. We aren't on page one of Google for nothing. That's all I have to say on that topic. |

Re: Jumpgate Evolution: Some Observations of The Meet and Greet at GDC 2008.
Ah ok, my bad. Several have so I am Jumpy. *twitch twitch*
Everyone needs to relax about these interviews. The only people that can give you authoritative facts are Herman and Scott and the folks at ND. And it only matters when it's an official sponsored announcement or when they are talking to you, the Jumpgate Evolution community. Interviews are just someone trying to please their user base with fresh things that THEY like to hear. It's hard for them not to spice it up. Though the TTH one was pretty cool. And this isn't even an interview so it shouldn't be used as a source of facts. It's just me and some Jumpgate friends in a very noisy restaurant enjoying good company while trying to remember what questions we had. I could have gone into this with interview in mind. And if it wasn't NetDevil I probably would have. But with notebook, list, and a goal in mind I would have missed the human side of things. It was more important for me to meet and greet the people at NetDevil and my fellow Jumpgate vets than it was to fill a list. Plus with the noise you could never get it all down. Some things are just drowned out in that environment. It was so much fun that we talked outside with Newtron for a couple hours then me, Hurricane, HCs_Cutie and skipjack got back on the train and went to my favorite pizza place till about 6:30 or 7:00. So it was a full day and it was fun. I should have taken pictures of that second arcade room at the Metreon. Oh man, it would have been a nightmare to some of our notorius members. Carebear heaven it was, I was getting dizzy in there. Imagine a large room with over 100 stuffed animal prize machines. It was a soft and cuddly place. ![]() |
