Jumpgate Evolution Spacecraft Information now up in the Galactic Database
We’ve just added some new information to the Galactic Database which is focused on the various different player controlled Spacecraft in Jumpgate Evolution. The information found under this new entry dips into the different class archetypes available for each ship category, scratching the surface of what is to come.

Head on over to the Spacecraft entry to find out more."

This just came up in Jumpgate Evolution forums.. discuss.

Im excited cause they mentioned pirate/smuggler ship(Fast Transport) .. I hope they make that role more playable then in Jumpgate TRI..

Awesome. I like some of the descriptions...and with that double tow I can only assume they're planning on keeping "shipping magnate" a viable career path!

That depends on how the AI hauling is implemented.

Re: Jumpgate Evolution Spacecraft Information now up in the Galactic Database!

I just pray they have something close to the Octavian Vulture Heavy Miner. I belive that is the most versitile ship in the game for my particular play style. Like everything else about the game we'll just have to see what they deliver and then decide if we can deal with it or not. On a more positive note, this does suggest they are getting a little closer to the opening of Beta...

I disagree, all this means is the person in charge of writing this stuff finally got off his ass. Or the person in charge of approving what is written got off his ass.

There are no pics, or details on each ship for each faction, this is just a general run down of how the ship classes work. It appears they are using the same types of ships from Jumpgate Classic, so at least we know the balance should be relatively easy to get right since there are no new classes of ships to balance.

It also sounds like the bomber is now 100% anti-cap ship and less of a fighter now, ohh well.

Jumpgate Classic: LF, MF, F, HF, Scout, Ranger, Bomber.
Jumpgate Evolution: Patrol Fighter, LF, MF, HF, Scout Fighter, Assault Fighter

Yep. I can't decide whether I'm happy they've kept the balance that works, or unhappy that this is the same as before.... Fortunately for me balance is dependent on ship stats and shape so I can keep this argument going forever.

Re: Jumpgate Evolution Spacecraft Information now up in the Galactic Database!

To me ship classes are really meaningless. The big question to me is balance, profile and differentiation (both among one nation's ships as well as between nations).

Re: Jumpgate Evolution Spacecraft Information now up in the Galactic Database!

I just hope they keep the "light" and "medium" versions of ships (like the fighter) with a real role instead of making the linear leveling system where you "graduate" from the light to the medium to the heavy and cost/level requirements are the only factors in which you fly. I have a feeling it will be the "obsolete when you level" style though since that's more familiar and easier to grasp system that other MMO's use...thus easier for inexperienced users to grasp.

One cue I'd like to see taken from EvE (or other games, EvE is just the one that comes to mind) would be different shield "types" and different weapons that are more effective against each....you know, to provide a mix of ship configs instead of a single cookie cutter design...I know, it would then be multiple cookie cutters, but some is better then none IMO.

nah.. that would degrade the skill of Jumpgate.. would be pure luck if u could choose different shields each time you docked..

Re: Jumpgate Evolution Spacecraft Information now up in the Galactic Database!

I agree with Eraser, that kind of +1 to this or that stuff does not belong in Jumpgate.

I'm actually a avid fan of the other way, less types of weapons, more cookie cutter, more skill needed. Of course I'm the one who has been praying for ammo only this time around *shrug*
