Yep. I was really sorry to hear belatedly about your visit, skipjack. I was told by one of our IT guys, a couple of hours after you left (which was about 15 minutes after I'd arrived in the office). One thing you've got to realize is that NetDevil is more than 80 people now, and only 9-10 of us are assigned to Jumpgate Evolution. Most of the company is working on entirely different stuff and has no knowledge or access to show anyone anything about Jumpgate Evolution. Even of the Jumpgate Evolution dev team, pretty much only Draker, Striker, Erm or me are liable to give a demo, or just maybe Scorch himself if no one on the actual dev team is around (assuming HE is).

I asked our IT guy for a name or a cell number, but he told me you hadn't left anything. I'm incredibly sorry about this missed opportunity.

I'm pretty sure that meme on the forums was a misinterpretation of Scorch's initial post offering to show the game to whoever schedules a visit here at the offices (or arranges a meeting when the demo is traveling - as in Melbourne).

Jumpgate Evolution get-together parties like I expect you are thinking of will be the forte of our new community manager, Awen, and I think they will be unlikely until post-release (when presumably we wouldn't be spending funds needed to actually develop the game, on the party).

SOE is Sony Online Entertainment, he was with EA, then worked for Bathesda, and now he works on the network code for Sony.

So he's moving up the ladder to "only" working 40-50 hours a week instead of the 80 hour weeks he started out with at EA.


If I don't wander away again by April I'll def. let you know when I'm headed down, I like beer. And strip clubs, but that's another topic entirely.

As a matter of fact, we ARE talking about doing a House Party. We haven't firmed up the details yet, but I'm sure if there is enough interest in people coming to take a look at the game I'm sure we could work something out.
