When did you start playing Jumpgate?

I don't remember the exact date... early 2001. My earliest memories were the FM for building the KTRI subspace arrays and later the FM for the medium fighters.

It took me FOREVER to get my first kill. I had pirated a little bit back then, but most of my time was spent in the Solrain Scout flipping oct beacons/running from hordes of OEC.

I saw Jumpgate on X-Play circa 2001. It was a pretty new show at the time, back when it was TechTV. They reviewed it and another MMO space sim (can't remember the other one now) at the same time and i picked Jumpgate. Best decision evar.

I think Beta5 was when I started. Don't think they even had squads at the time. It got added shortly after, though.

I honestly can't remember. I do know I started when ISU was still blockading Amananth, and I joined them briefly. I stopped playing due to Gamer ADD, and came back just as BRC was starting, so I created my commission pilot (the one that I actually still use) and joined BRC as well.

I remember I was flying behind the OEC fleet because I was sort of tired of the kill steals, so I had this unique position in which an AQM ship jumped into Tripoint sector where I was heading to the gate and he may have not noticed me as I came from his back and finished him off with no other red dots in the area.

I started October 2002 and luckily Merraton was there to teach me how to play (roomate at the time). I remember watching him haul cargo and mine back in beta 6 and thinking Jumpgate was the most boring game ever. I joined his squad, AQM, right as everyone ended up leaving the game unfortunately, and spent my first leveling experience mostly solo.

I'm still wondering how everyone from Jumpgate Classic is going to play on the same shard. If there are server population caps, we might crowd out all the fresh blood.

i dont know who got the first pvp kill on me. I do know, Kenelr another AQM pilots first kill was ME though. It was one of those, "OMFG its Rollio and were noobs, what do we do moments?" He launched missiles and I was somehow right behind him, and Kens missiles hit me. So his first kill was a friendly.

Then you got LeeMajors' first kill was a steal from me. It was before we recruited him into AQM I think he was with Brotherhood maybe? We were chasing down an Oct somewhere and Lee was in a scout (faster ship) I took the guys shields and armor way down, and Lee finished him off. We recruited him shortly thereafter. 7 years later, were still playing together, got to love it.

I remember when CPT.Sean and I were in JOURINTHEWAY. IIRC, during a big fight he podded and I got three kills and escaped at 4% armor. Heading back to KH to rearm/repair, I was bragging about my achievement when he lit up my shields and blew me up. Even though I was on fire that night, my busted-up Typhoon was no match for his fully-armored Monsoon.

Heh.. I remember an interesting stand-off outside of Wake that I had right after the start of Beta5 and everyone was still flying their noob ships around. This other pilot and I were trying to kill each other in our premias with noob lasers and we must have fought for 20 minutes without either of us eaching armor and we finally just gave up.

That also shows how long ago it was, because we fought in a station sector, and no drones came out.

Same day as Algore did, we met in Oct Space swiming in a sea of german players. We were around level 4-6

Eventually in moved to the US server for some reason and Algore got stuck in the EU Beta. After some time I started flying with OEC.

We met again upon release and I invited him to OV.

-Fire- and I started back in fall 2001, me as Guiness played for about a year, he got me in with -=MACK=- sometime around then, then I stopped playing. A few weeks ago I did a half hearted attempt to recover my old pilot with Sabre, was unsuccesful so I started over and here I am. I wish I had never left when I look back on the subsequent seven years of fantasy mmos
