I don't think games have ownership on names of things that fly. So yeah, it probably doesn't matter.

The only way they could would be if the word was made up in a proprietary language they created for one of their races and they copyrighted it.

Ok, but then it wouldn't be in the list of avian or known things that fly. I think it's pretty obvious that the contest is calling for something from reality to bring into the game. At least I hope it's obvious.
