MechWarrior4: Mercs MekPakIII update

MekTek (which you may know as a small, independent group of coders who really like to mod the bejezzus out of the MechWarrior series) has released an update to their latest compendium, which they refer to as MekPak.

MekTek: Project MekPak

There is a ton of nifty stuff in there, if you are a MechWarrior fan. Take a look at the page for details and download info.

Re: MechWarrior4: Mercs MekPakIII update

the only downside to it is that you can't use the new mechs in the actual game. but if you go to 'instant combat' you can play every mission with any of the new mechs. there are, as i recall, somewhere between 50 and 60 mechs total now, as well as a ton of new weapons.

If you are into that sort of thing, of course

oh, i almost forgot.. you can even play an elemental now. how cool is that?

Me either, the last time I played was after I quit Jumpgate

I actually applied my Jumpgate experience to it too. I got a heavy mech, loaded it up with lasers, and used the "circle" fight against the other mechs, worked pretty well too, except when I got excited and overheated the mech over an over.

Laser Mechs were very powerful, but you had to be careful about the heat

Do the mechs work in multiplayer? I miss playing elementals... mech2 with netmech addon was a blast with elementals.

Yup.. and there are a mountain of new maps out there, too.

There are, as I recall, 5 or 6 different types of elementals, from various inner sphere houses and then the omni stuff that the clan brings.

It's all played best over multiplayer, and there are always a game or 50 going on.

Re: MechWarrior4: Mercs MekPakIII update

it's a pretty old game.. you can probably get an illegal copy to try. If not, yeah, there are a ton of demo's out there. Check that same website, they'll hook you right up. If you decide to buy it, go ebay. it's.. oh.. 3 years old, give or take. cheap, cheap, cheap.
