AutoAssault thread

Found a really interesting thread about AutoAssualt here which talks about some general failings in the game's release (several seem to parallel Jumpgate) and how ND got $10mil from NCSoft and then how NCSoft has written off $13mil worth of AA as a loss, along with some simple explainations as to what it all means or may mean.

That's about what I expected really. They basically made the same fundamental mistake with AA that they did with Jumpgate - the thought that it has to be a grind to be a MMO. One of the same problems there was with CoH.

Maybe the grind works for some games, the sword and magic stuff, but if you break the genre (i.e. go to superheroes, space combat, car combat) you need to break the grind mold too. Sure, players should be rewarded for time in. However, I think it should be more cosmetic (like capes and auras in CoH), and that the focus should be on immersion rather than "character development via level-up".

So did Uwe Bohl.

Apparently, I'm not the only one that thinks levels aren't so hot

Well, since the level requirement to be viable in PvP in Jumpgate was reduced from 26 to 9, and most people seemed to like that change...I'd say that you certainly are not alone in thinking levels are not so hot.
