Re: The End of Auto Assault
how sad... I didnt see much hope for the game to begin with though. It was a hard sell from the beginning

Re: The End of Auto Assault
Well, NetDevil got paid and I'm sure they did a great job on the code and the game. The concept and control of the game belongs to it's publisher and so does the responsibility for it's demise.

Re: The End of Auto Assault
You have to be careful with using Jumpgate Classic like that. Apparently it was a big turnoff to a lot of folks. You don't want to scare the folks that will love Jumpgate Evolution off if they're the same type of folks that couldn't deal with the learning cure of Jumpgate Classic.

Re: The End of Auto Assault
People have said over years that ND dont care about Jumpgate.
NCSoft shutting down a game after just one year that (I assume) in fact does have a player base (at least over 1000) is not caring about a game. A publisher like NCSoft is always gonna look at margin of profit for a game as soon as it drops below a certain point (still makin money though) then they are gonna axe it. The GM resources and the tech staff and the development cost for a update arnt worth it if the profit margin isnt high enough (or if the player base isnt enormous). A game that isnt a success within the first year isnt gonna be a hit in its second or third year running. Tex EDIT: Funny though that Jumpgate will outlive AA.... interesting how things work out sometimes.... |

Re: The End of Auto Assault
I was at Staples this weekend, and saw copies of AA still on the rack. I told the staff that they may want to check on if they still should be selling the game. Can you imagine buying a game and finding out that it was no longer online?
