I loaded thje game, but couldnt get it to work. Kept saying I was missing an DLL file. Low and behold, a new directX was out that I didnt have.(Dated june2006 or something) I upgraded my DirectX and I was in.
I walked around my apt a little, looked out the window and toggled the light a few times (O). Then hit F5 and had a free look without the window, very nice. I hit the #1 key and I was in my vehicle. Drove around then it dawned on me. Where is my apartment? Dang. I found a map online and printed it. Found my apt and made it back. Is there a way to make the map bigger in the game? That tiny little screen in the vehicle is hard to follow.
Anyways, I wanted to make some money, so I figured out how to transport a passenger. Made my first 25 cr this weekend.

Still on the trial, but I think I might sign up. Would love to build, mine, space travel and the such. I have a Saitek X52 stick and it works great in the car using the buttons on the stick to shift and twisting the stick to turn. The thruster control worked great. I cant wait to get into space. Navigating seems to be real tricky in space from what I read. I am an old Jumpgate player, so I am used to space mechanics. I wonder, is there a detailed gameplay on all the controls and space travel tips?
The monthly rate is very reasonable (like 6 USD a month) considering the depth of the game. Plus the game is free to download.

Death is more of an annoyance that a tragedy. If you crash, you get the customary red screen and have to wait 20 seconds before you rejoin. If you were near a player when you crashed, the game will relocate you x number of km (don't know the actual number) away from that player when you respawn.

You do not lose your plane or spaceship when you crash. Any pods you are carrying will stay with you. However, any money you had on hand and any cargo in your pods (or vehicle) is lost. The loss of cargo may break your budget if you're not careful. Depending on how spectacularly you crashed, you may have to flip over with the F3 key.

If you run out of gas, your ship or plane shuts down. If you're in a plane, you're toast, as you will fall back to the ground and crash. If you're in a spaceship, you may be in a stable enough orbit that you can get someone to fly up there and transfer fuel to your craft. In all likelyhood, you will either fall back to the planet and die or be catapulted into space. If you are stuck drifting in space far away from the planet (more than 10000km by my estimate), you may as well self destruct, because it will be tough for someone to get to you.

Anyone playing Eternal Silence? Its a great little mod for HL2 that is great fun if you've got a joystick. Have been waiting for a decent online dogfight for a while now. Still in Beta, but well worth the download. Check it out! http://www.eternal-silence.net/
