What Happened to the Babylon 5 Game?
Way back in the day, I used to get Computer Games Magazine which did a preview article of a Babylon 5 computer game. Note, this was in early 2000, I think.
I've looked around online, and found this, Babylon 5 Fansite It says that the game died because of licencing issues. Does anyone know whether there's a chance that this game will be resurrected? It had a really cool structure where you started out flying a single StarFury, and then over the course of the game you controlled a squad, a wing, a batallion, and eventually a fleet. But the idea was that even when it was in RTS mode, you could jump into the pilots seat of any one of your ships and fly it in first person. Sounded ultra-cool, and I really hope it hasn't disappeared in the wind. Anyone know whether there's a chance that it'll live again? |

Re: What Happened to the Babylon 5 Game?
The B5 game was almost done (like 90%) and was in alpha testing i believe when the plug was pulled. It was because sierra was scaling back everything because they were loosing money. Flight Sims tend not to sell as well (the world seems to think).. so it was axed. As far as i know they still retain the game license.
I managed to snag some promotional materials (already made for release) from when the game was canceled... it shows up on ebay from time to time. I actually got mine factory direct in a fan give away they had a few years ago. http://www.mhoc.net/images/house/old/IMG_2762.JPG shows the poster.. there is a shadow watch and a 3d mousepad also. |

Re: What Happened to the Babylon 5 Game?
A shadow watch? Okay, that's way too hot. Can it rupture vorlon encounter suits? More specifically, can it rupture vorlon31's encounter suit? I swear he's just pretending to be a vorlon...I wouldn't be surprised to find out that he was mostly human under there. I wonder if there's any way for them to release some of the code/screenshots...I wonder if the game still exists somewhere just waiting to be developed? |

Re: What Happened to the Babylon 5 Game?
My last understanding is the game was further developed by the fired programmers but they couldn't get sierra to sell the license... or at least not at a respectable price. The game that vorlon mentioned though is awesome.
The watch is non-digial.. at least has no numbers.. just 2 hands on a bluish/nebulaish background with a shadowship in the center.. which takes up most of the face of the watch. The mousepad is the same base image on that poster.. but the 3d/movement effects shows the ships jumping in the jumpgate |
