Re: Babylon 5 - the lost tails.
yeah, I picked it up not too long ago. I am a big B5 fan, I have all of the original 5 seasons, plus the movies discs and the Crusade pack.
But to be honest, The Lost tales fell flat. The blew their wad on 10 minutes of digital effects. There were 5 total actors in the whole movie. The first one was just strange. I know JMS likes to use religion in his stories, but this was just very strange. The second one was better, but again it just seemed short. Galen stole the show in the second one, as he did in Crusade. They give a nice nod to both Andreas Katsulas and Richard Biggs (G'kar & Dr. Steven Franklin) both of whom are no longer with us, and the opening monologue is an old speech by Katsulas. But honestly I don't know if it can ever be B5 without those 2 guys. For me they were the heart and soul (quite literally) of B5. Their relationships with everyone else is one of the things I loved about the show. Franklin/Garibaldi, G'Kar/Londo, G'Kar/Garibaldi those were relationships that just can't be duplicated. |

Re: Babylon 5 - the lost tails.
That was one of my favorite shows after Star Trek. I wish Sci-Fi would pick it up and dump the stupid wrestling shows.

Re: Babylon 5 - the lost tales.
I never liked Babylon 5.. And this movie was just crap.
Unlike Star Trek, Babylon 5 is to me people on a station doing nothing but talking. They could have done this on a planet and not risk all the dangers that come with being in space.. |

Re: Babylon 5 - the lost tales.
eraser55, i get the feeling you never watched more then two episodes of B5, because it was way more then people talking on a station. they had an excellent story arc that had lots of memorable scenes. I love DS9, my favorite trek series... but B5 had a better and more fleshed out story arc, and better characters. Although <3 goes out to DS9's excellent CG battle scenes.
Anyway, this 'movie' was HORRIBLE. God aweful. It lands in the crapper right next to that turd of a show 'Crusades'. BTW, the Technomages were the worst and most illogical character ever created on B5, and it fills me with nerd rage when I see them. Gimmie a fricken break. Technomages. I'd shank them all. Anyway, B5 was great. Crusades sucked, and the guy who played Galen can't act. Period. He may of 'stole the show' in Crusades, but only because the rest of the cast sucked worse then most B-movie actors. The dialogue was horrible. The stories were ridiculous. The ship was a giant floating penis, and rarely fired it's 'Main Gun' which was the only reason for watching the show. And 'Captain Lumberg' wasn't very convincing, either. Oh, and this 'The Lost Tales' was a huge dissapointment. The first 'episode' took place in one room. I blocked most of it out of my mind... it was so horrible... but basically it was just Lochley and that one catholic priest guy fighting satan in a cargo bay. They blue-balled us by mentioning Garibaldi a couple of times but never showed him. I cant remember the ending because by then I was clawing out my own eyes like that scene in Event Horizon... "Liberate tutame ex inferis" The second episode was marginally better... but featured that ridiculous Technomage character from Crusades. It's only redeeming value was we got to see more of the Minbari homeworld, and Sheridan. R.I.P. B5. First Crusades and now this 'Lost Tales'... I'm starting to wonder if B5 was a fluke, because MJS cant seem to make believable stories anylonger. |

Re: Babylon 5 - the lost tales.
I liked the techomages just fine.. however i really liked them after i read the trilogy of books released about them. I believe those books are considered "cannon" and if that information would ever get released in some sort of TV format could be quite interesting. I would say you don't like the technomages because you don't understand what they are. Which isn't your fault because it was never really reveled on TV. Please note, im not telling you more about them because it may spoil it for those who either enjoy the mystery of them or are reading the books. If you really want more info i will be happy to share with ya privately... unless alot of people want to know more... then maybe i can use some sort of spoiler tag thread on it.
