Dr. Who
Any Dr. Who fans other than me here? I have been watching it since I can remember. Always behind because we get them later here but always pretty good. My favorite is Tom Baker by far. Since my kids like the new running of the show I have been trying to show them the old ones. Last month I bought the key to time set. Yesterday I purchased Robot which I believe was just released on DVD. Eventually I will get them all then maybe work on the Pertwee ones.
Anyone else like The Doctor? |

Re: Dr. Who
Oh yes! No surprised at the choice of Tom Baker, the man is a legend here! He recently did the voice-over for a comedy series called "Little Britain" and was pretty much as funny as the actual actors themselves.
Anyway, Jon Pertwee was pretty cool himself. I think you'll enjoy that. And lets not forget the new ones, I for one was disheartened when they BBC originally said they were starting Doctor Who again, I thought they'd ruin it. But I was made to eat my words, the new ones are like they old ones plus outrageous CGI effects. And to all US fans who still miss Billy Piper from the series, her latest show is the story of a high class hooker, "The Secret Diary of a Call Girl". It is essential viewing, not least because of the outfits Ms.Piper gets to (almost) wear! ![]() So, any stateside fans want a blow by blow spoiler of the Christmas special when it comes out over here? ![]() Smeg P.S. I still try to get behind the sofa when the Daleks or the Cybermen come on. |

Re: Dr. Who
Yeah, over here if it's not from BBC we probably never see it. When I was young I watched Dr. Who and Monty Python on the public televesion station in San Francisco channel 9.
The new ones are cool, but they are different. I really do not like the offshoot Torchwood. In fact I think it sucked. I sure hope they don't keep signing people to short contracts though or they will have to change the whole regeneration limit to continue. If the current Doctor continues on he could be the Tom Baker of this generation. He is pretty good. |

Quote:
The first was by far the best. Christopher Eccleston did an incredible job. Tennant is also very good. I just feel the writers tried to cram too much old Doctor into the new series and will run out of ideas to reincarnate old villians instead of concentrating on new stories. Out of the old series Pertwee and Tom Baker were my favorites. I dont know if it was the acting or the stories because the stories were very good. |

Re: Dr. Who
Eccelston was Fantastic! As he would say. But only one year just makes it stupid IMO. I think Tennent has something going here but here we go, switching costars every year. There is a reason I still remember "Sara Jane" and "Romana." They were around long enough to leave a body of work.
Any Idea who the new one will be? There is another Christmas special coming? We didn't get that till recently but I was able to see it thanks to a certain member here who "ahem" enabled me to view it before that. ![]() So I was reading somewhere that some site was predicting that if Tennent leaves after 2008, or whenever his contract up, that Daniel Radcliffe will be the next one. I don't know about that one. Seems too much like riding the wave. That would definitely be the youngest Doctor ever. |

Re: Dr. Who
Of COURSE there is a christmas special!! Its the BBC's biggest hit world wide! And if you watched the last series you will know it will be set on the Titanic.
![]() Too many of the old villans? Bringing back the Master was a master stroke (no pun indented). I loved the last series, the episodes with the statues scared the bejeezus out of me more than at any time in the last 30 years!! Real change of underwear stuff. Smeg |

Kylie Minogue. Petite Australian soap star turned pop diva. Has supposedly the best rear end known to man.

Re: Dr. Who
Well, we have 500+ worthless channels so I haven't even heard of our own soap stars since I don't watch that stuff.
Heck, I hardly ever watch TV. It's enough my mind has to filter out all the noise from my kids watching Hanna Montana which seems to be on every hour. |
