I would have to say that both of these rank right up there together...

Babylon 5 season 4, when Capt Sheridan rides the Agamemnon back to Earth with the rebel EA fleet to demand President Clarke steps down. Clarke orders all of the planet defense sentry's to start raping the planet. The ensuing battle is fantastic, and when Sheridan orders the Agamemnon to ram the remaining tower, the Apollo jumps in at the last minute.

Battlestar Galactica Season 3, the rescue from New Caprica. Between the Galactica jumping into the atmosphere and being in free fall to launch her Vipers, getting bracketed in against 4 Basestars and the Pegasus coming in and blowing that first Basestar in half, it was just on the edge of your seat scifi geekfest.

Considering both of these are television shows too, it makes it that much more enjoyable, they went this all out and it wasn't even a movie.

Yeah the whole movie(s) are full of good parts like that, full of cool effects and sweet sound. I love in that lobby scene how the one piece of tile falls after they close the elevator..makes me chuckle every time.

Re: Favorite Sci-Fi movie moments?

I kinda like the Babylon 5 show where the Earth alliance ships were comming to take control of the station, and Delaine came in at the last moment to save the day.

Earth ship " This is earth controled space we have authority here, do not make us engage your ships "

Delaine " Why not.. Only one earth captain has ever survived an attack by the membary fleet... he is behind me.. you are in front of me.. if you value your lives .. be somewhere else "

That one game me chills

"Sooooooo, you have the ring. And I see your Schwartz is as big as mine!"

"It's MegaMaid, sir. She's gone from suck to blow"

"I'm a Mog. Half man, half dog. I'm my own best friend."

"I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate."

And the immortal:

"How many assholes we got on this ship anyway?"
"Yo!"
"I knew it, I'm surrounded by assholes!"
*Thunk*
"Keep firing, assholes!"

Grail

Sinclair: We've confiscated the fake encounter suit. It's a pretty close match to your own, at least from the outside.

Kosh: Why?

Sinclair: Deuce wanted to make people think he had the Vorlons working for him. He figured it would add to his image and intimidate people.

Kosh: Why?

Sinclair: Well, after all, no one knows exactly what you look like. That makes some people a little nervous.

Kosh: Good.

Re: Favorite Sci-Fi movie moments?

"Live fast, fight well and have a beautiful ending."

I was reading Istvans article at The MMO Gamer Dev Diary: The Inspirations Behind Jumpgate Evolution and he says "We’re building technology into Jumpgate Evolution and its AI system to handle large-ship combat, not just dogfights, so that our players can have the experience of flying among dreadnoughts in a major engagement." and I was reminded of the film Battle Beyond the Stars (1980). It's got so many classic quotes. The acting is full of cheese, but I loved it. The fight at the end of the seven mercenaries against Sador's Battleship and fleet of fighters is EXACTLY the type of thing I want to experience in Jumpgate.
