ELP's experiences with Taikodom
Day 1...
Met with Jump, Borgue, ChicoD and already joined the corp. Had lots of trouble understanding the inferface but that was expected. Station stuff is TOO slow, but is beta, should be expected as well. Worst part for me is controlling the dam ship. Did the waypoint missions sort of fine and went to the drone mission expecting that at least I would be able to kill one... well, not even one. I guess this is what happens when you spend a lot of time hauling or mining.... can't aim things. Turning is horrible at low speeds and yet that was the only way I could land some shots, but never enough to kill them. The Tick drones turn too fast to my setup, which can't customize far as I know. Music is awesome, I could stay in-station for hours listening to that music. I logged off out of frustration of not being able to hit a thing, but I also got to work so... will be back tomorrow or later, I guess. ELP Thanks Jump for the help ![]() |

Re: ELP's experiences with Taikodom
Well, he was shooting up chicod, BORGUE came in and was texting him but I don't know what he said and the guy made no obvious reply. He was at half armor, probably from BORGUE. I saw him turn around to go back so I hit the button. *shrugs*
I'm not really that good at PVP it was just an obvious moment. |

Re: ELP's experiences with Taikodom
Well, guys thanks for the help but....
Its not really for me. I hate not being able to even shoot a damn drone. Guess I'll pass on this one untill I can fly it with a stick... This turning thing related to ship speed feels so unnatural... I dont really like it. Im not sure if to uninstall it or not. BTW, it was weird to log back in-game and be exactly at the same place, talk about instanced stuff, even the drones had the same damage as earlier (with Jump's marks all over them). I liked the station interface a lot and the music is awesome, but the controls are awkward for me, to me is a big deal NOT be able to even follow this stupid tick drone, that keeps getting closer and closer to me. Im frustrated honestly. ELP PS: Uninstall or wait? |

Re: ELP's experiences with Taikodom
Kind of soon to be giving up isn't it?
If the drones still have the same marks then that's persistent not instanced. Granted the game needs work but all games take persistence to master or they aren't worth playing. Sorry to see you not give it more time. Maybe after the patch on the 14th when I hear they will have inertia. Keep in mind turning in Jumpgate is related to ship speed. It's just that the inertia and near physics makes it feel different. I can assure you that when you are in a heavy ladden tow in Jumpgate you will not be turning very well at any speed. One thing I noticed when I tested the patch, which is probably old. Is that in cruise mode if I move the mouse farther toward the edge of the screen I turn much faster. |

Re: ELP's experiences with Taikodom
L2FLY noob.
It's pretty tricky to get behind them, but once you are they aren't that hard to follow. The biggest thing to get used to is that collisions are on, and if you bump into something it halves your speed...that, and if you go slower than 20 your turnrates suck...but I think you can go 20 and still turn normally. I share some of your frustration, but I wouldn't uninstall yet. It's free after all, and they're apparently going to be adding in inertia sometime this month..and that may change your flight experience significantly. p.s. I've killed that algoz guy once (after dying to him twice) |

Re: ELP's experiences with Taikodom
My advice for shooting the drones, bring your speed down so your acting like more of a turret than a high speed dueling match. Works great on those ones in Lua and Venus. It takes a little time to get used to controlling speed with a keyboard, but you will get the hang of it. I wouldn't give up just yet.

Re: ELP's experiences with Taikodom
I say keep it installed. Keep poking in here and there as the mood strikes you and you will start getting a little more accustomed to it each time. It cost nothing, and should get better over time. If you run out of HD space, then kick it off if you're still not playing it hardly at all a couple months down the line.

Re: ELP's experiences with Taikodom
@TS, currently the flight model is very different than the Jumpgate flight model. I haven't felt that my Jumpgate experience has really helped me at all in any way. Part of that is that I so rarely fly mouse in Jumpgate, and part is the totally different physics engine. I keep wanting to cut throttle instantaneously and whip my ship around to reverse thrust back on my track an keep my guns on target, and no way in heck i can do that with the no turning at low speed business.
