Alpaa Quantities

According to Jump's item lister, there are only 213 Alpaa shields in Solrain Stations. Since there is the most Iridium at Sol Core, that's where I'll be trying to make them, to avoid having to move the iridium. Iron to Cornea or mining common near cornea would be appreciated for the much needed magnetics cornea makes.

What appears to be halting production is synthetics. While not used directly in the alpaa, it makes the fiber optics that are at wake.

Now I see SC's Alpaas at 1001, meaning it's probably hit the production cap. Did you get help in this project? I would hope that a single pilot couldn't make this big a difference in 2 days (unless you were online a TON in those 2 days). Though it could just mean that we are not yet to the level of 1st and 2nd tier commod shortages that would make true eco-war viable.

Well, I stole the Fiber Optics I delivered (about 700) from Oct Core. IIRC all the station need at that point was Magnetics. I logged for awhile, and when I logged back in there was a handful of magnetics there and SC was producing. I took some Iron to Corn to get some mags producing and then brought about 200 back.

In short, I had some help, and I think others have kept the magnetics coming in, either intentionally or via missions. No place that makes fiber optics was making them, and it would have been a much more difficult situation were they not in quanitity at OC.

Rule #1 of hauling....

Make ur own stuff or at least bring enough ingredients so that the station makes them again

no, Rule #1 of hauling is Don't Aim At The Hard Stuff.

And nice work Grim, too bad you didn't get Pirated. I hear that's what makes this game fun.

Knee-jerk reaction to having 213 Alpaas, then stripping stations to make another 800 (how often do you plan on Dieing?) is not necessarily a good thing.

In the new economy, where some commods must be scratched out of roids -- some very slowly -- it is unwise to mass-produce something unnecessarily when the same base commods may be needed for something else. We are going to be a little more in-tune with the idea of on-demand production.

The only thing worthwhile fiber optics is used for at OP is defiers, and there are more than a thousand of those laying around. I personally don't plan on dying at all, but DE fights a lot from what I understand. Alpaa's will never be unnecessary.

Perhaps at OP .... but how about elsewhere? There are just a few more than 1000 units of Fiber Optics in Universal Inventory. If, for example, TriPoint's Haven inventory was destroyed by a Sent (or other) attack, this could be a problem.

I was not trying to be over-critical. I just thing we need some mindset revision on how we produce things -- and ensuring that certain critical production commods remain available for "rainy days."

One additional thought: the current econ will be MUCH more friendly to the economic warrior. I, for one, love this concept -- but it means that we need to be ever-watchful of our critical supplies.

Well the Octavians weren't watching, mwa ha ha. That brings up a thought though, should SDS maybe sell to their faction only?

IMO, no, but the whole thing is set up to allow for two things:

1) Economic warfare where "group a" denies access to certain commodities to "group b" -- typically commodities which are important/vital to "group b."

2) Capitalism - a merchant/pilot identifies the prospective unique need for certain items and then profits from stockpiling and selling these items from a private station.

We will have a lot more use for scanners . . . a lot more opportunity to RP situations where one might deny free trade of certain items from certain stations.
