'IF' people were being alienated and sidelined because they do not wish to pvp in Jumpgate, one of the first things that could be done would be to erase every post where youve said exactly what youve just said. The game cant alienate, only other players can. And if a game is to keep being played it needs to capture new players, to apeal in new ways and to EVOLVE - like jumpgate has done if you open your eyes and see. PVP is a big part yes, but not all. PVP like pve are parts of the game and each is equaly as valid and as important as the other. Honestly, to me it all reads like you activy wish to condemn Jumpgate to the grave, to dwindling players just because you cnt share what you consider to be your toys etc... Ahhhhhh..... hang on..... I got you now... You LIKED it better before it became the wws, when there were just 13 players logged on at peak times. When the whole of tri felt like your own little personal playground and there was all the kit you could ever need in abundance in all the of the stations. I will give you a tip it was like that because attitudes like yours had driven off all those pesky other players who werent in your 'special' club and with them went their pesky $$'s too. Stagnation is bad m8, just ask the dinosaurs. Besides, you may of missed when I wrote this before so I'll say it nice and clearly again. *cough* I've been playing jumpgate for over 4 years and I see the pvp elements of Jumpgate (although important at times) as being secondary to what I play for... Tadaaaa..... So the fact that I log in and continue to do so blows your entire opinion out of the water anyway m8. So c'mon let me hold your hand and help you out of the cave, evolution is good and we live in houses now and the dinosaurs, well they went extinct running around saying "down with darwin" |

I responded to an accusation, with an accusation and threat. Normally I would have talked first. |

I'm not saying I WANT Jumpgate to be a PvP game -- I'm saying that it is. That's the way the game was built ... whether I like it that way or you like it that way. Scott Brown and friends created a PvP game, but one where the PvPers needed some support from others for their machinery of war to work. It is not equal parts PvP, PvE -- it is not equally fighting and econ. It is PRIMARILY a pvp game that has niches for other to fill. Perhaps some day when Istvan has a change to completely rewrite the code and the game works, it might become the game you're describing. But it's not there today. NOt because that's what I want or you want or Gent Wants or Wild_Bill wants -- it's just the way it's made. |

Jumpgate was probably never meant to be a RPG either. Yet players have - mostly on the EU server - created and played some very interesting RP backstories, personal histories, conflicts and vendettas that far exceeded the original intention of the game.
So, while Jumpgate may indeed have started as a pure PvP game, the ability to completely ignore this aspect and do whatever you please (limited only by the game mechanics) is one of its strongest point IMO. |
