Joystick... add-on, upgrade, or toss out?

Ok, heres the deal. I have a Saitek Cyborg Graphite. Its a good stick, but there are two problems with it. A) Its hard to make fine adjustments with it because B) When I up the sensitivity and/or deadzone settings, it drifts... a LOT (used stick off of EBay). This is in addition to the built in throttle not working at ALL. I have calibrated, tweaked, and fiddled with settings all day long and I still just can't get it to feel quite right for me. I just got creamed in my nix by a C7 manta... and damn its just embarassing that I can't get a simple ion cannon to land without a half dozen leading shots because I've got to use big movements.

Ahh, so here comes the question. Is it worth it to keep the stick (that I paid like 5-10 bucks for 2 years ago) with a broken throttle and iffy control? If so is there a good throttle with a few buttons that I can use around that I can ebay or something? A 2nd hand throttle is far more preferable to the little .... twiggy stick that sticks out of the side of this thing.

If all else fails... I've got a 2 axis 2 button digital stick that I got from Radio Shack like 6 years ago for 2 bucks stashed away somewhere...

I'd say no, it's not worth it. Dying to a single C7? It's amazing you even have to ask.

I didn't die, just got walloped - it died & so did the snails that were harassing me the entire time...

Any help on what to look at? The x45 & 52 look nice... but theres a serious space issue here (right now I've got the cyborg setup on a stepladder next to me & half wedged under my chair... not a very pretty site =P) and the only room to put the throttle really would be on that little platform on the left where the coke is, which would put the throttle at shoulder height (different chair now, that one busted, this ones not adjustable so I sit kinda low). so maybe a 2ndary throttle isn't such a good idea... blargh, I dunno This sucks, I need a full desk!

Get enough slack on the wires to move the keyboard and trackball onto the shelf, put joystick and throttle on the tray. That's kinda what I do, except I have enough space in front of the monitor to just move them up there. With a HOTAS like the x45 or x52 you have enough buttons that you'll never be touching your keyboard except to type (and presumably you won't be doing that until it's safe to let go of the stick)

That might be an option... but if I don't have to spend money to buy a new stick I'd like not to... so no hope for the cyborg?

youd probably spend more money on replacement parts then you would on a regular joystick.

Visit the saitek site and then the store... they have a refurbished section which sells X45's for 40 bucks (80 normal price) with minor cosmetical damage. Last I went there was no x52 yet for sale as refurbished.
