More than one ship

How is it possible to acquire more than one ship? I am looking to purchase a ship mod for my station but need to know how to acquire the second ship to park there.

You get 4 level 0 ships in the Ship Hangar. So when you dock at your PoS, you simply shift to one of those and fly it to a station. There you change it to the ship you want and equip it.
