What is the spawn range for pures these days?

25 to 45k I think. Good thing they retained the old textures, so they are easier to see. But, yes, there is a but, at times happens that a pure shows the tex of a normal roid, and only will re-take its own texture till ur close to it, and sometimes it wont..

It has been reported though.

Not a big fan myself. All the big pures I found tended to be iron, and with the new spawn ranges, you could mine a 4 unit pure, then have to fly 90k to get to the next one.
