I had to switch to a wireless router to get my computer out of the baby's room, and now I'm either discoing or my whole pc is locking up when playing Jumpgate. The other online game I play seems to be fine though. Anyone else have this and find a workaround?

I have a wireless router, though my computer is wired to it, and my dad used to play WoW on wireless. I think you may have someone logged on to your router and is taking up a lot of bandwidth. (gotta password it to prevent that). Check your signal strength and speed. Interference from other communicable devices, cellphones and stuff, can hinder your signal greatly. You may have to check to see if you have the correct ports forwarded to the correct computer IP, if your on a NAT.

Well, it is password protected. You were right about someone eating up the bandwidth though. Right after I posted this I checked my roommates comp and she was downloading torrents, that's always screwed me up even when I had an ethernet cable plugged into the router. I just couldn't tell at the time because now my computer is in a different room.

I've played over wireless for some time without problem, but in the last month I have had tons of problems with retries and dropped packets while playing -- gate lag, tube lag . . .

And then once in a while it's absolutely fine.

Still have a soft spot for this game so drop by every so often. Just the way you casually mentioned the baby's room made me register and post to see if congratulations were in order.

PotBS still in early Beta but at least it is now in Beta. Still waiting on that email but wouldn't have time to play anyways. It's coming up on 3 years now i've been waiting on it. Hopefully not much longer to go and it did win a few E3 awards so fingers crossed....

We'll have to catch up sometime. I've gone back to university to do my Masters. Just finishing the taught element now and about to start on the dissertation in about a month or so after a bit of a break.

Meeting up with Aub, Ranger, Evo, Stroth and maybe a couple of others in July in Wisconsin. You fancy making the trip?

I'd love to, but July is when I finally get out of podunk Oklahoma. I'm moving to Vancouver, Washington and will be all tied up with the move and whatnot. Give evo a wedgie for me though.
