The beginning
It breaks my heart reading the thread on the EU forums entitled "The End." It's an emotional thing happening over there. So I figure I will start one here with an opposite theme. The end of one thing is always the beginning of another. Like the Phoenix that rises from its ashes, Jumpgate is heading into a new era at a time when most thought it had reached the end.
So the question at hand for this thread is. What are your plans for this new era of Jumpgate? What are your needs? Mostly I am referring to the incoming EU pilots. But all are welcome to offer input as we will soon be one community and have the same needs. Has anyone set any goals to accomplish as we merge? Anyone have any apprehension? What are your expectations? What can this website do to help the transition? A million questions and so little time. As for myself, my plan for the immediate future is to begin removing the EU options from my tools. I wish to get that done before the merger so I will be free to deal with whatever arises then. Who knows, maybe I'll even get time to play the game itself and join in on the new thing. But it needs to get done so I need to start now. Exciting yet perilous times ahead for us all don't you think? |

I kinda would like to know a few things... but Id say the main one is that I would like to know a brief history of these major EU squads that plan to come to the new World Wide Server.
I know about Oct Vanguard and Fellblade cause they used to be part of OEC with us, but I dont know much about the others. Perhaps a little background on their squads and what is their main objective in game (RP wise) would help figure things out, mostly with those that only speak german. I hear a lot about EU's CP economy and how they will come here and move existent stocks into their big Pos'... that's a scary thought lol. So, another thing would be to explain why they feel they should do that here and why another aproach (like we have) can not be in order. The Language barrier is going to be huge. Therefore.. I would suggest a crash course on learning german... like a brief comparison page.. so whenever I see foreign words I can know if I'm being PoD... and if its worth to stop or not ![]() I honestly would expect english to be the main way to communicate and I would have nothing against a german only F5.... but there must be a common way to communicate. Language could be an issue for the US players. I have already been contacted about a German forum here and my first thought is, how would I moderate it. Most of my family is from Germany. I was concieved there but born here.
I can kind of understand it when I hear it. But reading it leaves me clueless. So that is an issue for me as you know we have moderation standards at JSR. |

As for the language, the majority language in this game will be english hopefully. For a Solo PvPer, it's gonna be hard. |

Heya, about the language barrier.
I can barely speak a word of German and i've been playing in the EU server for 3 years (ish) and I have never found any problem with the language barrier. The majority of German peeps that I have come across can speak very good English, often better than myself . And at the very least they know how to get the message across. If the worst comes to the worst you just get a translator in to sort it out, but in my time playing there has rarely been need to. As for coming across the pond, to the "wws", Im just looking forward to meeting new people, and having a fresh challenge. Having more pilots online is the main "pro" of the move, and im sure many more will come out of it. P.S Hi to all you U.S dudes btw hope to see you in space soon. ![]() |

Hi US chaps, looking forward to learning how you guys operate over here and adapting to fit in.
Mining ? if its as necessary as it seems to be i am fairly sure there will be enough of the EU contingent out there giving those semi's a good lick. Hoarding ? Its inevitable really, pilots coming over will want to immediately make sure they have sufficient kit to re-equip at any given time, the system on EU has become ingrained in most pilots right or wrong, and i think that will take slightly longer to change. Squad backgrounds ? Again, most will be fairly self-explanatory by their JOSSH squadpage listings, i am more worried about the pvp balance and how the EU squads will fit in as on EU currently, the Oct squads have a massive number advantage, i hear Oct and Sol's main squads here tagteam against the Quants ? We will all have weeks of fun finding the right balance im sure ![]() All in all, though it is sad EU is shutting, if pings are playable for EU pilots here on the new WWS i have nothing but enthusiasm for this new start, in no small part because you guys have been so welcoming across the boards here and on mightygames. Its appreciated lord_zaz, CO, Solrain Defence and Logistics Corps (-S.D.L.C-) |

Zaz here is the deal. 10-14 Sols + 2-3 Octs team up against the 3-9 Quant/Soli fleet at any time. The SolrainKnight Population (Foreign Legion) shoots at Solicidal/Corn.
