No, because if someone is going to do for the reason of, oooh, lets see, helping their faction getting an upper hand then when they respawn their vessel, the faction they have helped (in most cases) would be the one paying their losses.

There are always going to be downsides to such an action though and strangely (IMO) about two years ago on EU, someone was lifetime banned for homing at a pos or sth in GBS and repeatedly splashing commods from there to help his home faction for an RP-arc.

I believe ALL cargo should be insured because every now and then, for absolutely no reason whatsoever, someone comes along and rips your laden kit-tow causing many millions of losses and an internal rage close to the fiery depths of hell and damnation.

Ive never understood why equip's not insured anyway. I was once told that it led to exploits but??

Youve paid for it, your hauling it, why arent you insured for it?

Even at a nominal 90% of cheapest station cost would be better than 0

IMO, once you achieve a certain level (Transport level maybe?), insurance ought to be either partially or complately purchased prior to a run. This way you could decide whether it is worth it to purchase insurance. If you have a short safe run, or a longer run with a strong escort, perhaps you forego the insurance.

We have one GM who's barely ever on, the splasher would most likely get away with it on this server (especially if it wasn't for an RP-arc). I'm glad equipment isn't insured, because especially with as painful as it's been lately to make instigators it'd suck if someone could load up with 200, splash, and barely use any money.

Ambro: The splasher would buy insurance for that run....
