Clarification regarding numbers
I'm not entirely sure whether our "enemy" knows where my grievances come from regarding the last few evenings.
We all face greater numbers at times, it is the nature of the beast as it were. With the new patch we are all adjusting and changing our approach in general to tactics when it comes to pvp. At the end of the day Jumpgate is a game, and for people to continue playing we have to make it as fun as possible for ALL involved. I'll give my views and approach on things, maybe this will give our "enemy" some insight as to where our annoyance is coming. I want to fight, my guys want to fight. As a result of this we will generally always seek an engagement. I imagine our enemy know this. If, with the new patch, we seek an engagement and have to go to foreign soil to get the engagement we are immediately at a huge disadvantage. If outnumbered it is more of a suicide mission than usual. From my pov the sols as a unit seem unwilling to return the favour. This results in us continually taking the fight to the sols irrespective of numbers. On the rare occasion that the favour is returned, we seem to have to wait for over 60 mins only to be engaged by what seems like more pilots than before. I appreciate that people log in/out etc. But look at it from our pov. We give you all fights with the numbers we have available. We engage in your space with those numbers. To us it looks like you try to maintain the advantage of home faction engagements, and should you move out of your own faction it takes a ridiculous period of time for you to appear, and when you do it is with an even greater force than before. I'm not saying come with less numbers, I am saying fight with what you have. If more log on you will have more numbers in the next engagement. It's not fun knowing you are outnumbered waiting to get a fight, only to get a fight even more outnumbered 60+ mins later. All tactics aside, the game is about fun. If you have more numbers, invade as we do. My guys follow me everywhere, but I'm done with asking them to invade on suicide missions just to get a fight, rather than sit about for 60+ mins while our enemy forms up/logs on. Regards Al |

It's also terribly artificial to go deep into Oct space, because you live in Dark Gateway. Most of the time you wait for us in Dark Gateway and try and lead us deeper into your space. Speaking for myself (though I think others would agree) if you want to fight in GP or OP, wait for us there. Don't wait for us to show up in Dark Gateway and then try to lead us to where you want to fight. We will come looking for you. The reason you have to enter Sol space for a fight is because we've been living at Sol Core. It's pretty convenient. If we fight in Dark Gateway, the survivors can hole up and refuel at a POS, and if the casualties got a kill before they went down they can get a fresh mission. We also don't have to swap ships in the hangar for ammo and such. If you come looking for the fight before we're ready, you won't find us unless you go deep into Sol space. I can't say why, but it does seem to add a minimum of two minutes to the time the 'fleet' is ready for every person on it. To be perfectly honest, the main reason I've logged the last couple of days is because it became unfun after the first few fights. The waiting for everyone to get their crap together so we could go fight again...became unfun for me. Hopefully this is something that will work out. |

Unfortunately, my schedule usually has me logging out right as the big number fights begin. Don't think I've been in more than 1 or 2 fleets with more than 5 pilots. I have no idea why but Reece is right: more people are a lot slower to reequip and organize (some pilots a lot more than others).
When we /homed in GL, we almost always fought in DG/GL which was getting pretty dull IMO. Post Patch, anytime that you went deep into Sol space, you would have to get back through GL to refresh which kind of stinks. The same is true of us going deep into Oct space now since we have to fly back through DG to refresh. At least you have a ZR option for refuel. For us to go to EE means a lot longer regroup time. We recently lost a squadmate who owned one of our GL POSes, so we took the opportunity to /home in SC which is something several of us had been wanting to try anyway. Thus, the middle of our 2 /homes is where the fights would most naturally take place quickest when numbers are fairly even. When numbers are more lopsided, the fights should take place closer to the weaker side's /home. Thus, if you moved back to GP or OP to /home, we could fight in DG again. But a few fights might be at a sector or 2 away.I've always enjoyed fighting in/around/through the big stations like SC and QC (OC seems way too far removed). Sort of makes it tough due to droids, I know. But that'd be even 1 more reason to /home from TRI stations to help balance numbers when lopsided. Even before droids, QC's mojo itself seemed to be worth at least 1 extra Quant. I haven't fought around SC enough yet to know if the same holds true for SC. Anyway, I'm not telling you where to /home. That's your business. But I will tell you that we've been liking SC thus far even though it does make us less willing to go deep into Oct since it's 5 extra minutes away from reinforcements. So far, I like more distant /homes and more decisive battles. |

Fair enough guys.
But it is annoying waiting at 1am our time for 60+ minutes only to have a silly sized fleet turn up. We could have 3 fights easy in that time, and be 3 times less drunk by the time you eventually turn up. I suggest yu guys go to the sim, and practise reequipping ![]() |
