Demerits and whatnot

Illegitimate kills and damage to non-Hostile faction assets are the typical reasons for assignment of a demerit. When a demerit is issued, your home faction political rating will also suffer. Egregious violations of the RoE, such as downing a Civilian without cause, will usually result in additional credit fines and further penalties beyond a simple demerit on record.

Presence of a demerit will reduce your pay for missions, as well as slow your rise in rank. Even civilian authorities will take note of demerits on a pilot's record and reduce rewards for Civilian tasks. Demerits will linger on your record even after your present Tour of Duty is concluded.

Military demerits

Demerits may only be removed by drastic improvement of home faction political rating.
If anyone figures out what this stuff really means...like what exactly the penatly is for a mil solrain shootin a mil quant when the two are neutral ...please post a reply...

Simply put, attacking and downing a friendly or neutral pilot in reg space is considered a military code of conduct violation and results in a demerit. The only exception is if the other pilot is flipping or tuning your faction's beacons on on a military mission (which you could only guess at). Military pilots who down civilians are penalized even more severely.

If you accumulate enough demerits, you are summarily discharged from the military.

The other exception is for beacon tuners, as long as you catch them in your home space.

Quote:
Pilots of other factions who are intruding by conducting opposing military missions against your own faction, or who are aggressively tuning beacons in your faction's controlled space, become legitimate targets regardless of present factional relationships.

But those beacon tuners have to be on a military mission tuning beacons...not just tuning beacons? What does: "penalized even more severely" mean?

So..at the moment (unless status changed in the last six hours) shooting a mil quant as a mil sol is bad since the factions are neutral?

No.

It means the penalty is more severe fore ripping civs than ripping a friendly/neutral mil. More severe = harsher = bigger penalty. For more complete detail you should go rip a civ.

In reg space. In unreg is weapons free still. With the aforementioned mil mission and beac tuning exceptions.

Interesting. Last night This fine fellow inadvertently civved this nefarious pilot and apparently didn't even get a bounty.

I get the impression that the civ-kill penalties are relatively light/non-existant, and the hush-hush nature of demerits is attempting to mask that fact from the non-pvpers who will be particularly unhappy about it, and the nefarious folks who will be delighted.

Oh...and someone should probably make istvan aware of how the demerits are showing up on JOSSH

Well, I've figured out that if a bug gets you a demerit, you can make it go away by killing enough octs to get the Solrain Ace medal....

So....you can work of penalties for civving by pvping....

He had negative PR in both Quantar and Solrain for that kill, if I got it right. By civving that pilot, whomever it was, he got -125 Quantar PR and -3 Solrain PR.

To add, he didn't have a kill recorded in his stats.

Civving seems nice now, doesn't it.

How to leave the Planet:

1. Phone NASA. Their phone number is (731) 483-3111. Explain that it's very important that you get away as soon as possible.

2. If they do not cooperate, phone any friend you may have in the White House - (202) 456-1414 - to have a word on your behalf with the guys at NASA.

3. If you don't have any friends at the White House, phone the Kremlin (ask the overseas operator for 0107-095-295-9051). They don't have any friends there either (at least, none to speak of), but they do seem to have a little influence, so you may as well try.

4. If that also fails, phone the Pope for guidance. His telephone number is 011-39-6-6982, and I gather his switchboard is infailible.

5. If all these attempts fail, flag down a passing flying saucer and explain that it's vitally important you get away before your phone bill arrives.

That's not all. What about civving in MT? As far as i'm aware it only gets you a demerit and a small home faction pol hit of 10 or so. Wich is basicly nothing and if what GG says, about getting rid of demerit by PvPing, is true, then civving while mil tagged is easier then ever and almoust not penalized.

Someone said tonight that you can only get the Ace medal once so you can't use it to clear demerits over and over. Don't know if that's the case or not.
