Extended leave of abstinence

Did you know, that if you pull the little plug that says power supply monitor fan off the motherboard while it's running, and then try to re-attach it also while it is running you will hear a snap, the computer will power down, there will be a funny electrical smell, and then you'll be replacing your motherboard? I do now. Back in a couple weeks.

Okay, I'll bite:

Why were you disconnecting cables inside your computer, WHILE IT WAS ON????

These questions and more, on the next Geraldo.

Random lockups. Previously it had only been in another game, but I was starting to get problems in Jumpgate as well. I had pulled my sound card and ran with the onboard sound to see if that was the problem, and it still locked up. As I was putting the soundcard back in, I noticed the 'power supply monitor fan' cord wasn't attached to anything. I blatantly ignored that it said monitor and hooked it up. When I turned the PC on i noticed that the power supply fan was working. I thought to myself: It was probably always working and that monitor cord thing did nothing. I unplugged the cord to see if that was true. The fan kept spinning. Satisfied knowing I was right (once again) I went to plug it back in *snap, crackle, pop* the rest is history.
