Final Patch Verdicts

I give the patch 3 out of 5 jumpgates...or flux...or stars...hell, pick one.

I think it accomplished some good things. I like the factional f1 dependant on beacons. I like that beacons are flipped more often now, and when I get my combat account to lvl 50, I'll probably like that I can see military pilots.

I think there's some problems with the military missions. Procurement missions don't pay well enough is one of those problems. I'd like to see a factional message when an enemy pilot conducts espionage on my buildings, or raids on my ore depots. Ore depots will always be empty unless they trickle commods into them automatically (which is a kinda groovy idea, particularly if they do it based on location (ie semi in main gate ore depot, ice in sol space ore depot)).

Can;t comment on the PVP side of things, but as a PVE if you like, id give it the same thus far, i like some of it the flux = pol great idea not too keen on the insurance, ok its only a small amount but why every time you take off? Why not one payment till you go boom?

And i made the mistake of insuring my cargo, me being a bit bad with numbers etc i thought it cost 21k it was 200k+ and to add insult to injury i had a disco on docking at QC and even heard the 'docking blah de blah' but re logged to find my self at aman and had to fork out 200k more ( it was then i found out that it was 200k not 21k ) thus that trip had me down 400k even before i had started. From here on in its the basic 100% for me.

The defiler is a waste of a slot now, you hit it too hard, ok for solo flux maybe one or two did a a
c14 c17 combo np, but when it was c13 c16 the hits out weighed the recharge, and i used to use it all the time now gone to haven, yes i know its ment for quick hit and run PVP but even so i think its a hit and boom not a hit and run.

As for the bombers emm er time will tell.

I'd have to give it 4 out of 5 dentists or whatever. I think the patch itself is great. It's just the variable settings that need tweaking.

I'm with lordopic on the insurance. Having to pay on ever launch is a bit of a pain. Having to pay to launch out of my own POS seriously irritates me! The fact that I can't adjust my insurance at my POS makes it even worse. Insurance should either last the length of the mission, if you have one or until you crash if you don't have a mission.

Military procurements, like most military missions, are seriosly underpaid in my opinion.

Overall, I'd give it two whatevers and those are mainly for 1) encouraging folks to come back and fly more and 2) giving bored pilots something to shoot at besides civs.

Personally, I'd give it a 5 if not for the things that need tweaking and some of GG's suggestions that probably need implementing. So for now, I'd go with Kermy and say a 4 out of 5. One of the best patches to every grace Jumpgate, imho. Also extremely risky, as it is changing things on a more fundamental level than since Ep 2.

2 out of 5 usually implies a inherant dislike. I really don't see what there is to dislike about this patch, unless you just have it in for pvpers. Let's face it, the basis of this pvp system has been broken for quite some time, and this is the first serious attempt at fixing it. And if you ask me, they're doing a fine job. A better PvP system is also going to help civs - you should end up being targets far less, in theory, at the very least due to PvPers being more entertained with each other, and also due to the way this recent patch has screwed pirates over.

The military aspect of the patch I like. New missions and a meaning to pvp, along with the prevention of cowards switching to civ tags at a whim.
Beacons system absaloutely wonderful, first time in years beacons have been as important.
The ship changes, shield changes etc, totally retarded and inappropriatly introduced, timing wise. Very little thought appears to have been put in here, indicating either a lack of testing or I would argue a lack of experienced up to date testers.

One thing I didn't like was the no docking at non native stations. I'm starting to come round to this idea now, although it is still a suicide mission. I guess with only 2 factions fighting and one defending DR it doesn't leave too far to fly.

For the military aspect of the patch, I'd go 4 out of 5.
For the rest, 1 out of 5.

In all a definite improvement overall for the game, and defnitely worth a look for some old timers.

Regards
Al

4 out of 5 spleens. Love the flux/pol. Beacons/F1 is superb. Military service tour of duty is cool.

Precurement missions would of been the ideal time to un nurf the tows but...

Over all, good job on all (esp the dragon shielding drop/armour boost)

IceFox (and others) it's not so much of me having a dislike for or against the patch. I mentioned the only two things I like about the patch, then Vorlon reminded me of the 5 flux for +1 PR and I like that. The patch is mostly or mainly for PvPers and I'm fine with that. There just wasn't very much in the patch for me. If it brings more players back, or encourages the ones here to stay, then it is a GREAT patch whether it does anything for me or not.. and I'm fine with that too.
