Heavy Miners

Simple question that I thought I knew the answer to but am now confused:

Between the Sol and Oct Heavy miners, which has a quicker mining rate if all guns slots are the best possible mining lasers in that size category?

I was under the impression that two prospectors was slower than 1 financier mk2.

I'm at work so I don't have the game to make sure, but the DB file that comes with JGRotPro says my impression was incorrect.

Yeah, but they adjusted mining rates in this patch and the new modx might change the answer also.

Only the lower-level mining lasers were adjusted upwards, up to and including the Financier (not Mk2). The Prospector and Fin2 were slightly tweaked downward. At a WAG, without running the numbers for all the dedicated mining ships (will in a bit, between bites of dinner right now ) it seems that the idea was to make LMs draw ore faster than the HMs, to make them more viable than just as "I'm stuck with this LM till I can level up to 30 for the HM".

As for ore extraction rates, as of the 102 patch the Vulture draws 0.300u/sec, equipped with 2 Prospectors, while a Lodestar with a Financier Mk2 and 2 Excavators draws .330u/sec. The other ships will, as I said above, have to wait. :P

Ok, dinner's done. *burp*

Below are the ore draw speed stats for miners, as of the 102 patch. These values assume the gun slots are all filled with the best mining lasers that can fit, and the Quant numbers account for the +20% mining speed from the mining scoop that's part of all Quant ships (raw combined gun speed * 1.2).

Light Miners
Simurgh: 0.380u/sec
Harmattan: 0.552u/sec
Quarrier: 0.380u/sec

Heavy Miners
Vulture: 0.300u/sec
Khamsin: 0.516u/sec
Lodestar: 0.330u/sec

And here's the numbers for mining transports/FTs, just for [excrement]s and grins:

Fast Transports
Hawk: 0.125u/sec
Whirlwind: 0.180u/sec
Phaeton: 0.150u/sec

Transports
Wyvern: 0.265u/sec
Hurricane: 0.276u/sec (BTW, Griz, this also the draw for a combat miner Monsoon, with weapon guns in the S4 slots )
Traveler: 0.225u/sec

Obviously, defensive guns will alter this, but for the math for that y'all are on your own.

You sure it's 20%, I thought it was 10%. It's .430 for a khamsin without the bonus, correct? You know...IF you put rushes on the LMs, I'd wager people would use them now.

So the Sol HM actually mines SLOWER now than it used to? Boy that's a fabulous change with everyone screaming about the economy How much faster are the LM than they used to be?

Griz, it used to be 10% speed and 10% quantity on sale, but the quantity boost screwed things up for the economy engine (yes, yes... "such as it is" ), so it was changed to +20% speed and no quantity-on-sale boost. I forget when, offhand, but it was changed a good while ago. And, yes, Khamsin without the mining speed boost is 0.430u/sec.

As for the LMs mining rate increases, the lower-level mining lasers had their speeds doubled, plus or minus a miniscule fraction, so they're drawing roughly double what they drew before the 102 patch (+/- that miniscule fraction I mentined).

And as an aside, purely IMO and speaking solely for myself, I think you're more likely to see a newbie shuttle that can mount a Guardian without GM tools then you are Rush-propelled LMs, Griz.

Ofcourse, heaven forbid a non-pvp ship be able to escape or defend itself. What's the T/M on a full of ore LM and a full of ore HM?

T/M numbers for the Quant miners only, because I'm feeling lazy.

Harmattan: 8.4
Khamsin: 3.1

The above is assuming, purely for the sake of simplicity, that all the ore is common (7000kg/u), and the holds are loaded up to their maximum capacity (65 and 280, respectively). Equipment is standard mining loadouts, no missiles or arties.

Wait a minute! The new patch downgraded the mining speed of the HM's? What the bloody hell is Istvan thinking? We can't mine enough, fast enough to keep up with production needs as it is and he's just made it harder? I've got nothing against increasing the speed etc on the lower equipment, but why the devil would he want to make the high end stuff less effective?

And what is this about a new mining modex? edit: ML Amplifier is the new modex. Doesn't say how much or what percentage it boosts Mining Laser "dmg/sec". Is there something besides the new deep space radar modex? edit: never mind.
