How about a Jumpgate wiki?

Something strange just hit my head and I wonder.

Would it really be worth making a wiki for Jumpgate.

Let me get a few links:

http://wiki.org/wiki.cgi?WhatIsWiki

http://wikipedia.sourceforge.net/

And an example of a game that uses Wiki:
http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/wiki/Vegastrike

How about it? Thought wikis would be a but useful for newbies as such.

I don't know. There are a lot of security issues with Wiki's. There is so much info out there already.

Could always have a moderated FAQ forum that requires approval to post into a series of informational threads of various topics or to create a new one. But non-users being able to access the FAQ would be a good idea for generate interest.

Wikis aren't all that bad as long as there's a high enough people-per-topic ratio to keep an eye on the changes and make sure no one trashes any/all of the articles.

Well, there is an article hack for VB. Here is an example.

We could also use it to let people do game reviews and such.

What are the security issues ? If you mean that in most of them they are world-editable, that's by design.. In a lot of cases, they somehow don't get destroyed ... the wikipedia for example...

On the other hand, I had a wiki setup and didn't look at it for a few months and later came back to find that a bot had spammed all through it about its poker site.. wow. Much could be restored simply enough though.

I'd vote for a semi-closed wiki ... something that required registration to post/edit, but was otherwise open. It has different potential and use than a forum style.

A closed wiki would be nice.
