Huh?
Reading JOSSH forums makes me dizzy.
Let me get this straight. Pirates are in charge of distributing justice? Pirating is valid roleplay but hording is not? Buying from a producing station after droping needed commods is now considered striping? ![]() Sigh, there is some stupid stuff going these days. ![]() |

This is a very complicated issue, Jump. Let me see if I can summarize an answer to each of your concerns:
1) Yes, because Pirates know the true meaning of honor and fairplay. Plus, they have our best interest at heart. 2) Yes, because hording counteracts pirating, but without giving the pirates a chance to shoot you. Therefore, hording is a bogus RP. 3) Stripping is anything that negatively affects either a pirates ability to pirate, or a pirates mood swing of the day. I hope this little insight into the chaotic mind of pirates has helped you understand them a little better. Remember, to be a pirate you must toss aside logic, rational thought, and any notion that other people may be right. |

Well, today's crop are. In the days of yesteryear, you got some good ones, and some bad ones. But this current crop won't last long. I have secret insider information that there is a difference of opinions within the ranks, although it appears they themselves haven't really acknowledged it yet. They will implode in due time.

That whole thing was so bogus.
I can understand getting pissed at someone for hoarding (it's definitely not stripping), but the crux of the matter -- and the debate -- was who dropped the Phosphorous. I know for a fact that Slim was mining Phos for two days straight, so I believe he dropped Phos to get production going. The thing that really pisses me off is that Slim is a BH non-PvPer who just returned to Jumpgate a few days ago. I have been doing everything possible to try to bring people back and then this happens. Luckily, Slim is not necessarily the type to flame, sulk and cancel. I just wish I had more BH actively playing so we could provide an appropriate IC response. |

I try like the dickens to not read the JOSSH forums, so i'm not going to pretend to know what's going on. Not all pie rats are bad, tho, so lets ease up on the painful generalizations. Also, VV (who I assume we are mostly talking about, not Misku, who is a different type of pie rat) is a huge (for Jumpgate) squad, so there is certainly dissention in the ranks. Especially with as many rules as their leader is trying to get them to follow. Like only POD'ing once per day per pilot, and if said pilot gets downed, that counts as a "one". TOugh rules, they can be.
Anyway, as far as pie rats being the only justice, that's basically true, it seems. Nobody wants to fight the largest squad in the game. What a shock. There are, what, three pilots standing up for the haulers? YOu can't help but like the pie rat odds on that one. But the good news: It doesn't really matter (repeated a'la a bad 80's movie). Space is nearly empty. The odds of getting pirated are no different than they ever were. Sure, a far highter percentage of pilots are "bad guys" (bored pvp folks who want to shoot easy targets) but there are still only about 15 or so on at any given time, max. So a trucker can't get an escort, but never really could, except from his own squad. And hey, one can always just bend over, grunt, wait for it to be over, and then just play the game some more. That's what we are supposed to do, right? After all, it's a multi player game, so we are supposed to be glad folks whine and complain at these silly things. It said so in another forum thread somewhere. |

FWIW, the Slim-rip had nothing to do with "pirate RP" and more to do with OOC "anger" at perceived "stripping." I have received an apology, an apology has been posted and supposedly Slim has received an apology and an offer of reparations. Once I confirm that he (Slim) is okay with the offer, I'll consider the case closed.
Part of the problem here is the fragmented VV RP (IMO). On one hand they are pirates, on the other hand, guardians of FF production for "the universe." {shrug} |
