I believe everyone knew that Themis GMs would troll JGW and JSR since they had become the unofficial gathering places for the OOC Jumpgate community. I believe people were pleased when GMs showed their faces on JGW and JSR, since that gave the sites some level of "offcial" approval -- but I don't think any GMs had moderator priveleges on JSW (and obviously here).
I guess people are feeling differently now. JSW has gone from a Jumpgate "Community Site" to a Jumpgate-bashing site that touts other games like WoW. It seems almost predestined that this game has to have the legs taken out every time it starts to gain some traction. |

"I'll tell you what. I have never quit playing Jumpgate since I started in Beta 6. I have never whined or threatened about quitting. But if ND was focked up enough to ban someone for things said on a private board that was not endorsed or funded in any way by ND -- that would be the end for me." (I dug it up here, btw) Many people's attitudes have changed, some for the better, some for the worse. Regan, I would differ with you on how people quitting is affecting JumpGate. You say that they are hurting the game. I say most have decided to stop helping it. People aren't quitting out of loyalty to Aubrey, they are quitting because of the egregious actions of Themis. This incident only highlights the fundamental problem that has always plagued Themis: uneven, sporadic, uninformed judgments on a player base they know nothing about. Whether this is due to complete incompetence on their part, or so little funding from ND that they can't possibly hope to have a clue, is irrelevant. We the player base have always bared the brunt of their actions, and for the most part we've taken it in stride. But to take it time and time again, then be told that we are the reason JumpGate is failing.. by Themis AND ND employees, really put the relationship in perspective for most. This is why there is far less loyalty to the game today, and why people are quiting so quickly this time. This isn't a misstep on TG's part to be worked out. This is reaffirmation of their game management style, and that the players can do nothing to change it. Regan, I'm not trying to come down on you, nor am I trying to change your stance on this. Just try to understand that most people that have quit over this (notice I didn't say ALL) did so for far more complicated reasons than loyalty to a friend. |

You did quit Elp, just before this incident. And plz stop with the loyalty to others. I played Jumpgate for 3 years. I think that is pretty loyal.
I became a DJ just to give something back to the community. While what Aubrey's post was little over the line, I still think Themis was wrong. Themis is judging us, but we cannot do the same?? Remember last year around may/june when GMK wasnt around for about one month? It took them a month to replace GMK with GMO. |

![]() You wouldn't have to sign a disclaimer, but I guess you could if you wish. Just having members agree to the rules of entry gives you legal hold over the content. If someone agrees that what happens in said forum stays in said forum, and then takes it outside. Well, then they become libel to all sorts of legal remedy. No company would ever allow their personel to agree to any such thing and therefor, they would not enter. |

Perhaps it's unfair to start now, but more than likely Jumpgate would be better off had everyone adopted the policy to continue playing as long as they continued to have fun. Unfortunately, my real OMG honest to goodness fun with Jumpgate ended a long time ago, right around the time I left Dead Space Armada. Ever since has just been hoping to recapture that fun, because it's still the most fun I've ever had playing a video game.

Regan, the Aubrey incident is only the most recent example of Themis screwing up. Many of us who have been here for a long time have been burned multiple times.
I've played since November, 2001 which isn't terrible long after release. I went through 3DO and everything Themis has done up until this point. I've been burned so many times but I almost never stopped promoting this game in any way I possibly could (just ask SingleShot... or a few other people at any rate, it's not important). I've done everything in my power to bring vets back and to bring new people into the game. Finally I have had enough from Themis. I continue to read the Jumpgate fansite boards because I still have friends who do, it's a good way for me to keep in contact with the many people I've met over the past couple of years. Anyway, one day I probably will be bored and reactivate Jumpgate. Then Themis will do something and I'll get pissed off and regret reactivating, from there who knows what will happen. One thing is for sure, unless something drastic happens and soon, Jumpgate does not have a lot of life left in it. I was once very hopeful for this game, but considering that the number of subscriptions is dwindling yet again, the only way Jumpgate could ever be saved at this point is if NetDevil put a lot of money and time into updating it to a more modern game that could attract new users and new advertising opportunities (or even re-publishing opportunities? Hah, if only...) |

First off, Seph, black text on gray (or whatever color that is) background is TEH SUCK.
![]() That out of the way, it always amuses me how everyone gets all up in arms if Themis bones something, shortly after praising them for their handling of some other issue. About the only thing that amuses me more is how people make the mistakes out to be all that Themis does for Jumpgate, just because when they do handle things right, in the vast majority of cases, there's very little (if any) noise about it. That's human nature, I guess... *shrug* |

Yea, I didn't mean to use black text but I was too lazy to fix it.
And as for Themis, I can admit they have done some good stuff, especially Khronos and Omega, and they HAVE been given recognition. But considering Khronos has been around only a very short period of time compared to how long Themis has been running this game, they have made far too many mistakes for Khronos to make up for. And yea it is human nature to point out mistakes. Everyone slows down to see what happened in some car accident, but no one ever slows down to watch good driving. |
