Re: if Istvan was to give Jumpgate Classic some lovin'...
IF Jumpgate Classic were to remain our only place to be.. then I'd with no tags, some econ adjustments and tow back to pre-nerf. Flux can remain as it is, I dont think we'll have fluxxers around so why spend time changing it?
The graphics update would be nice, but somehow I doubt it would happen. It could be, I guess, easier to just tune some Jumpgate Evolution server to behave exactly as the Jumpgate Classic we would want to have, only with slim'ier code. @Ambro: Couldnt you even stay on topic for once? ELP |

If it has to be Jumpgate Classic or nothing, then remove the economy and flux and make it quake in space. :P

Personally, and I mean no offense to anyone, I think that the thread is called "IF Istvan was to give Jumpgate Classic some lovin'" and if you're aren't interested in answering hypothetically you should probably ignore the thread unless you're trying to be an asshat.

@Net: doing a Quake in space would make that the no-PvPers would have nowhere to go if they dont like Jumpgate Evolution.

And did you just quote a fast and the furious movie? lol ![]() I don't think Istvan is enough (no offense to him) to get Jumpgate Classic anywhere near what it needs to be to survive in today's world. They will need at least 3 programmers and 1 or 2 graphics people to update the looks of the game, and fix the MT system, as well as add some of the things on their massive list of feature requests. So if Istvan and friends were to give Jumpgate Classic some love, I'd say 1) Working tag system 2) Rebalance ships 3) New Features 4) Upgraded graphics and ship design 5) A Map change to force people to use unreg more often. |

Re: if Istvan was to give Jumpgate Classic some lovin'...
#5 is excellent idea! Add more sectors between the factions to allow two-three unreg sectors between each faction space.
At the same time, put more stuff in the faction sectors for those who don't wish to risk the wrath of pirates or outlaws. Even more important is to put stuff in unreg that make it worth doing more than just transiting it to get to somewhere better. Speaking of pirates and law breakers, they should have seperate tags. A wolf's head for the outlaws and criminals or a "bar sinister" to their faction logo for rebels and the skull and crossed bones for those that choose the pirate way. Right now the skull & crossed bones are carrying too much weight. You don't know if the pirate is going to burgle you, pod you, civ rip you or just disagrees with their own faction or TRI in general. Too sloppy. As far as any of that goes, IMO tags should reflect actions and intentions. A Civ means you do not wish to PvP and that you have not "fired first" on anyone. They should bring back a HG or NG (National Guard) tag that have a time limit instead of the mission limit the MT tags do. Any of these three are using the tag to state they are willing to engage in PvP. The Outlaw, Rebel or Pirate tag would reflect their actions and intent as well. No tags means you either have to view everyone you don't know as an enemy or else you have to KNOW everyone's rep. IMO that's what unreg is for. |
