if Istvan was to give Jumpgate Classic some lovin'...

The majority of us here like/liked JumpGate Classic. Classic may continue for some while after Evolution goes live. GM_Istvan mentioned elsewhere that after Jumpgate Evolution goes live it is possible he might be allowed to give some loving to JumpGate Classic, including a graphics update. IF this were to come to pass, just what would you like him to spend his time on?

Obviously we'd like to see the MT 2 patch finished/completed.

Attention given to re-evaluating the bounty system.

Tow speeds returned to pre-nerf status.

Use the new AI for flux in Classic; nerf the unlimited radar range of the flux; make ECMs besides the Anti-Flux work the same on flux as it does on PC; eliminate the "flux dump" effect so that flux don't automatically target another player once their original target is gone.

The size of Classic sectors was mentioned in another thread as being almost beyond belief. What I would like to see added to Classic is more things out beyond the 100kd limit. New reefs or belts of minable asteroids including gigantic pures. Perhaps old stations to explore, etc. But I want some reason to go out there beyond sight of the gates or other features. Perhaps gates to other or unknown sectors. For that matter, you could have gates 200kd out that would take you across the galaxy. It's not like you would exactly save any time, if you had to fly 200kd between gates but it might be interesting in some situations.

What about the rest of you? What changes would you like to see made to Classic after Evolution comes out and IF Istvan and others are allowed to work on Classic?

I'd really like to see the level=choice methodology applied to the rest of the ships. At level 50, every ship should be worth flying for one reason or another...except maybe the shuttles.

Oh, and turrets.

I expect Jumpgate Evolution to be similar enough or have the IT that made me love JGTRI. So I wont be paying to play an outdated game.

I'd like to see him spend his time on Jumpgate Evolution continued development.

What W_B said plus.

Deep spaced roid clusters, find em, memorise them and use them - hermit RP.
Conflux to see ships as threats if they get too close, Flux Evasive's
Hives made vulnarable at max 10 nukes but only up the Hivehole
Flux and ship deaths to create splash damage based on size

.. and all mortar ammo's set to 200 rounds.

Re: if Istvan was to give Jumpgate Classic some lovin'...

OK, all good ideas, yee haw.

For the following thought, i'm making the assumption that just about everybody who currently plays Jumpgate gets into beta when it comes out (unless they don't want to, but that person is an idiot).

Given that, it would be fun to make Jumpgate a sandbox.. let everybody fly any ship (not flux, that would be silly piles of code work and whinage). Make a modX that doubles speed all the time. Knock station production up 10x. Make roids hold 100x their current, and make boost mining lasers 20x.

Just go wild. Make flux payouts and ore payouts and mission payouts 50x what they currently are. Everybody could die 100 times and still afford to play because the haulers would be hauling their butts off because everybody would want equipment everywhere, and there would be a ton of equipment to be had.

With so many people mining and hauling, there would be a use for escorts and pirates and attackers and oh my!

It wouldn't be fun for a year, but it would be a ton of fun for a while. Then we all go play Jumpgate Evolution and remember fondly the massive 4 month Jumpgate FFA party.

Re: if Istvan was to give Jumpgate Classic some lovin'...

Question....

Why not just make Jumpgate Evolution very similar to Jumpgate Classic and leave istvan where he is....?

I don't see the point it spending all this time on Jumpgate Evolution and then putting one guy back on Jumpgate Classic when its obvious that didn't work the last time around.

Re: if Istvan was to give Jumpgate Classic some lovin'...

I agree.. once Jumpgate Evolution is live, Jumpgate Classic should die. Netdevil does a ton of things really well, but maintaining a game post-release isn't one of them. I'd rather enjoy one cool game than quasi-enjoy two so-so games.

Scorch has already stated that Jumpgate Classic will continue as they dont expect everyone who likes it to like Jumpgate Evolution with the same passion.
