IJ Nerf

Same DPS as before. I guess this'll help the Quants out a bit since the IJ isn't quite so uber anymore. Still need a little more nerfage to the tensy I think since there is really no point in flying any other Solrain ship (except for maybe the vader in some situations, oh and I guess the bomber if you like nuking people ) right now.

Wow... not sure how I missed that one.

Yes Aphe is playing for the week because his GF is away or something... I can't remember the details.

Also he said that two nights of the week he's not allowed over to his girlfriends house... something about early morning classes... so he should be on more often

Yep, that was an excellent nerf. IJs are still nice for the overpowered nix and tens, but no longer have the devistating snapshot. Plus, if you are a Quant who's a glutton for throttle control, 4 of them can now be run on a Deepol w/o chaining (breakpoint is 15%).

Consider the following boosts from the retail release of Jumpgate:
-Phoon-
  • Instigator +650k (Thorn throttle breakpoint boosted from 18% to 30%)
  • Capacitor from sz2 to sz3
  • Shield from Canopy to Defier (which now recharges > Alpaa)
  • Spitfires = 56% breakpoint (compared to Thorn's 30%) /or/ Barrak's changed so Rak Phoon is viable
  • ECM to sz2, PWD = sz2 ECM
  • Shepherds recently made viable, giving a Deep/Ion setup +600k power at a cost of 6.4v and 0.6 T/M.
  • +1000 armor
  • Mass was added at the bomber patch then later removed, then 3k more removed recently. (Honestly not sure how current mass compares to release mass.)

-Nix-
  • Capacitor from sz3 to sz4
  • PP from sz4 to sz5
  • Shield from Canopy to Defier (which now recharges > Alpaa)
  • Injustices boosted /or/ Ammo guns boosted (speeds matched and increased)
  • Modx from 3 to 4
  • Missile hitbox fixed, MS removed from opponent fighters
  • Mass was added at the bomber patch then later partially removed, then engine mass was halved, then more mass removed somewhat recently. (Honestly not sure how current mass compares to release mass.)

-Tens-
  • Injustices boosted /or/ Spitfires /or/ Ammo boosted
  • Mass was added at the bomber patch then later removed, then somewhat recently a little added (IIRC). (Honestly not sure how current mass compares to release mass.)

As one of the more vocally disgruntled Quants in the old Ship Balance forums, I'm pretty happy with the current balance of things in the Fighter class. I really think general inertia and being used to having the 5th FF is what keeps so many Sols stuck in the Tens. The Vader is a very solid ship, the IJ Truder is very under rated (Sols are just unwilling to throttle-jockey to fire, but it has the same T/M as a Tens and is only 3v slower, though it's profile is very Phoon-esque).

Big white profile w/o any empty areas is really the only area where I still feel the Phoon is sorely overmatched by the others. But I generally am happy with it, and no longer feel like a total stepchild in space.

If the tensy gained a little bit more mass, I think some Sols would maybe be willing to leave the tensy and get into some other ships. I don't mean nerfing it to the point that it can't be used, but I might try flying the truder or something similar if the Tensy was nerfed a little bit more.

*shrugs*
