Over on the JGW forums some people have said some things that make sense to me, and have calmed my nerves on the matter. Basically, the reasoning is that the public forums were getting out of hand, and instead of spending its time moderating the forums, Themis decided it would better allocate its resources to the game itself. Therefore, the non-support OOC forums were removed in lieu of this better overal service to Jumpgate.
The only problem remaining, of course, is the splintering of the community. But I think it's working out. I plan to use these forums whenever I can for casual chat, as it seems the more... er... quiet players have meandered this way. The JGW forums have much useless spam among the various sections, and trolling them is proving to be quite a challenge.

Well, to be fair, putting beginner on ignore will result in a lossless compression of data, over on the JGW forums.

Sandbox is also of questionable value, if you're looking for significant data (or even looking for really good flames, but that's another issue, and one that isn't suited to discussion on this board or in this forum anyway).

The above, of course, is just my own personal opinion. Those who want to read "a Moderator on Board X is slamming Board Y!" into my comments are cordially invited to have crude sexual acts performed on them by barnyard animals. We all have better things to do with our time than sniping at other forums... and I sure as hell know I have better things to do with my time than to moderate out sniping at other forums, from this one.

Well, I'll be assed if I use the board Y after the way things went down on the jossh ones directly after closing the :chat and squad silo. I've calmed down some over the issue, but I try my best to stand up for what I believe. I believe I don't want to be where I'm told to go in that manner.

All in all, I hope people still use the JOSSH forums a lot. It'll be harder now, as the only way to really post there is to do so IC, but it may end up helping RP in Jumpgate make a stand. Istvan seems really bummed right now though, and that worries me as far as Jumpgate is concerned.

I plan on using these even if no one else does, simply for the fact that jump made a good point. Everywhere there are Jumpgate forums needs to have at least a couple of people keeping things moving on them. You never know how a potential new player is going to stumble on Jumpgate, and this site has a lot more potential for people not looking for Jumpgate to find it.

The bigger the game the more forums it has. So the more forums, the bigger the game can appear to be and then be. That is my logic anyway.

Judging by my last trip to the endorsed forums, I'd be more than happy if just a handful of the people not constantly goofing off trolled both. That being said, my new favorite part about these forums:

The little numbers in the corners of each post that let you do this.

I slightly prefer the way they do it on whatever boardtype myrotacol uses, as it takes you to the post and still let's you see the whole thread, like this, but the single post link is still great for referencing someone else specifically from another thread.

Well, after about 2 weeks of random ranting, manluv jokes, and general nonsence, I've grown really bored of the other site. Blowing off steam like that has it's place, but it gets old really quick. And now that it's out of my sytem I don't have any desire to talk about Jumpgate, let alone joke about it.

So, time to start scoping out some of these other games you have referenced on this site, as EVE isn't doing for me (again). I thought I'd like the ability to play solo or in a group, but I can do that for free with many other games. And it takes too damn long to become powerful.

Jump, you've got a good handle on these games. Is there any that my system will have a problem handling? I have a 1.13GHz laptop w/512 RAM, 32mb GeForce 2 Go card, and cable internet.
