What has that got to do with reports of lag during PvP ?.

Re: Jumpgate lag making PvP unplayable

sounds like a winner to me Al. When I get home, I will run one.

Bottom line, the problem can be in one of 3 places...or a combination thereof.

Client machine
Network
Server machine

While I have no doubt there are some issues at the colocation site, and with the server itself, I know there have been problems that have caused issues like this back before the servers merged. Upon investigation, IIRC, there were some bad switches around St. Louis (or something like that) that had things ll messed up for about a week. If we can eliminate client and network, then that would leave only the server.

We are putting the new revamped net code into the Jumpgate Classic client now to help with both this problem and hopefully get the Vista players back up and running. I don't have an ETA but I can tell you this is something we do take seriously.

Re: Jumpgate lag making PvP unplayable

The lag problem is a quirky one. I have only been in one session of large multipilot battles in the last week (I think we had about 4 nice furballs), and I had no lag issues at all (nor did I hear anyone else complain of them). We were fighting between DG and Wake with about 5-6 pilots per side -- not huge, but not small.

A few days before that I had a one-on-one encounter with InMe -- he said he had horrible lag . . . I saw none at all.

. . . fwiw.

Great news Scorch, I hope it sorts our problem. The Sol presence is growing and we need to do some culling.
