At least, it won't for me.

So now i wait for a new build or a workaround. But i'll be back eventually, when my machine is cool enough to play with ya'all.

Re: Reactivations

Yeah.. most of the threads end with 'i've gotten to the point where i can launch in the flux sim, but launching anywhere else locks everything up', and then everybody switches to a non-vista machine. heh.

And i was able to deftly track your hidden meaning with the quote.. i'm just saying it's perhaps the single most eloquent summation of the love/hate relationship involving jumpgate I've ever had the fortune to read.

Re: Reactivations

While i have not had a chance to test it yet, which is why i have not updated the thread yet... if you get your hands on a copy of virtualisation software, jumpgate should run in a virtual win98 or xp environment.

Microsoft Virtual PC 2007

or

VMware: Virtualization, Virtual Machine & Virtual Server Consolidation - VMware

You will need a valid copy of win98 or XP to install on these virtual machines.

If you can confirm that will work... feel free to post. I hopefully will get a chance to test this in a few weeks once things calm down from our move.

Re: Reactivations

Heh.. how much money do you guys have to throw at computer games? Second and third computers? New full operating systems? Man.. talk about living the good life :P

I'll just have to wait until they figure out how to code a game for vista. Soon(tm), i'm sure.

Re: Reactivations

This is exactly why I'm not in a hurry to switch to Vista. There aren't any compatibility issues with XP and I haven't come across a game yet that has any trouble running at 32 bits. I'm sure some of the "next-gen" games coming out soon would benefit from 64 bit processing, but until I'm in the market for them, I'll stick with what works

Re: Reactivations

I have alot of PCs and software because its my main hobby as well as my job. I fix PCs on the side and just use that money to stick back into my hobby. As for software... well im a bit lucky there. I have a technet membership (non-expiring trial keys for my testing) thanks to my employer as well as an old college roommate who works for Microsoft... He uses his employee store points to send me a few gift baskets of software a year. :P And no, i can't resell the software to you or anyone else... i would not want to loose my source of software. Im greedy like that, and i don't want to get MS after me. :P

FYI the MS virtual software is free i believe anyway if you already have vista.... and virtual machine means you don't need a second box.

Also i agree on sticking with XP if you can. Im only running vista for testing purposes. My main work/play boxes are all winxp.
