Jumpgate Reactivations
It seems like there has been a sudden influx of returning veteran players over the last couple of weeks. I know some of that is Liet attracting some of his friends back, but it seems to be more than that. And some of the returnees I spoke to had no idea that Netdevil was in the process of revamping the game -- they just decided to come back for another ride.
Any insights into what's going on? The only real problem right now is that 70% of the returnees are friggin' Octs! ![]() |

Re: Reactivations
I dont mean to burst your bubble but hasnt it been the same for the last couple of years ?. People return, start being vocal then realise not a lot has changed get bored and leave again.
Also, not that Im complaining about returning players but, how come you (in particular) and others are so glad to see pilots that openly admit to civ ripping Yet OV were vilified for killing HG pilots and ships in claimed sectors ?. |

Heh, i was going to reply, but then i realized that you aren't actually asking a question. You are making a statement, cleverly disguised with a question mark.
Tho i agree with you in that Jumpgate doesn't change. The shiny bits tend to move around and such, but Jumpgate is jumpgate. If you dont' think so, look at the complaints/events/issues from 2000. Same stuff, different day. But it's still the only game in it's genre, so everybody eventually come back. Then leaves again. Rinse, repeat. It's all gravy ![]() |

Re: Reactivations
I am going to disagree with the assertion about Jumpgate. I have beta'ed two very high profile games in my absence from Jumpgate. As a beta tester and avid gamer I simply believe that there is no game like Jumpgate. The content isn't boring or repetitive and there is always something do.
I like the player driven economy. I like the Pirates. I like mining. I like fighting the Conflux. I like fighting OV on a daily basis. I like a skills oriented game that is not dependent on levels but based on player intellect and skill. I think this recent influx of veterans (I am included in this) is because we went away for awhile, matured, observed and discovered how unique Jumpgate is after all these years. It is refreshing and its been great. I like that guys like Liet and folks have returned. It puts the bite that Jumpgate had when I was playing on the US Server. What I INTENSELY dislike is all the carebear whining about a Space MMO whose environment is inherently dangerous. That whining comes from the other server. This is why I was happy to see piracy back and to see civ ripping (I could be a victim but I know how to avoid that and deal with it). The penalties are stiff for criminal acts but even this universe needs criminals. I hate when folks try to define the good guys and the bad guys because it is a matter of what is in one's mind eye. Want to avoid civ rippers, dont be a victim. Do your homework.....! Quit being lazy. |

Re: Reactivations
Well Ambro, when I finally get my computer put back together and reactivate, I'll still be as green as ever. I was skeptical at first with the ship changes, but I really like the feel of the Nado now compared to when it was a bomber. If only they'd change the size3 and size4 lasers to something more like my namesake...

Re: Reactivations
Love the game have done for a long time, just don’t like some of the people, and now the player base has become so small its like playing on some ones server and its their party, id rather be down the road enjoying my time with people I like.
I also really don’t like the “its ok were back now” attitude of the some of the returning players. So what thier back and? Where have they been for the last x number of years and now they are back they expect people to know who they are and give a flying flump, just more fly by nights that with any luck will crawl back to what ever rock they have been hiding under for the last x number of years. I like the returning player that slips in and gets on with it with out any “oh look at me bollox” No I haven’t quit just not playing for some of the reasons above, and Id rather play something with a player base I can get lost in not be dictated by. There is always something to do because it takes so long for anything to get done. I take it the lack of anything event/FM/story/ well anything wise is due to the up and coming changes, and I really do hope its more than just new AI and graphics but a big fat helping of content/story/news/ an active player universe so if any one does come back they will have something to keep them here. There isn’t anything like Jumpgate, but if there was god help it. |

Re: Reactivations
its cool to see players returning.. but I don't treat them any different then anyone else... theres no point worshiping anyone. If some squad comes back and wants to start with a cool RP event or story, thats great. But don't think everyone will think your our saviors. Cuz Jumpgate survived without all of us who quit and came back..
And Tstrike.. stfu. U dont know EU. .. IMO it was much more hardcore then US. but thats my opinion. just don't go this road. ![]() |

Re: Reactivations
Jumpgate can only be a better place for returning players.
I remember several, the ones I play with now are on average better. Times have changed. Regards Al |
