Jumpgate rules on banning
I was reading Isty's post on chat log monitoring, and the process for banning people, and I noticed a little discrepancy. Here's a quote of his post:
"Server chatlogs will be checked on a daily basis. Anything found in those logs that is judged to be unacceptable will result in the minimum of an email warning to the player in question. Should it be necessary to repeat a warning, the account in question will have its access to the game denied for a short period ("tempban")." The first part indicated that you'd get an email at minimum, but that you could get something more (temp ban). So that implies that if circumstances warrant it, you could be banned without receiving a warning. But the second part of that quote implies that you WILL receive a warning prior to being banned, at least on your first offense. I can't post on JOSSH, but someone might want to have Isty clarify this so as to avoid the confusion that is currently festering on JOSSH. PS: I love using the word "festering", and its variants. |

The reason I posted the links was to demonstrate that they have not followed them, and their inconsistancy. No one gets an email warning. Just reading them is a laugh.

I realize that nobody gets an email. And in reality I don't really care one way or the other (even if I was playing Jumpgate). I'm just surprised that they actually have a conflicting statement in their new rules. I don't know why I didn't notice it before, but I thought I would spell it out for anyone else that may not have noticed. I didn't realize you were doing the same thing

I have just done some investigation and have found that JOSSH, Themis, and netdevil webservers all fail a rDNS look up (same problem we had last week) and their emails will NOT reach aol.com customers. Other email servers have the same requirements so it could be more. Details here.
So no warning emails would be recieved. |
