Replying to random comments...

The defier got nerfed pretty hard, I must say.

In the "old" days (HF fleets...or I guess we call them "fighters" now), the Sols totally dominated. They had the uber cuda and Intensity.

The Intensity was never, ever given the nerf it needed. Instead everything has been boosted up to its level. If it was to be nerfed, that should have been done 4+ years ago.

After the MF rebalancing and Defier stuff a lot of what made the Intensity uber was transfered to the other factions. The chirpy and tempest have a lot of Intensity charactaristics. They're light on guns, but are incredibly survivable. Less total protection, less power, one less FF, okay. But they get better acceleration, a killer shield recharge, and better turn rates.

Thats why you see all the Quants in tempests. When choosing ships they can take the micro intensity or the gigantic underpowered balloon of a phoon. Tough choice.

Ditto for the Octs, but the nix is not nearly as bad as it used to be.

I can't say I've really liked the MF era. The ships are just so survivable. I think the defier nerf is really, really harsh, but maybe it will help. Of course, you nerf the MFs too much and you get the old tensy as king back. It's tricky

I suspect the defier will be slightly-unnerfed, unless Istvan is sending it off into disuse land. I wouldn't be surprised if the nado was tweaked slight as well. While we haven't had the opportunity much yet, the battles with the octs tend to go better if someone is there in a truder. I suspect the quants may find the same with the nado if they try.

Saying that no Sols fly anything other than the Tensy and no Quant in his right mind would leave the Phoon and that the old Defier was never used just shouts that you haven't been out in RS much lately. After the Defier was quietly boosted to 174k recharge (compare to Alpaa 148k) a long while back (2 years maybe), the Haven was almost never used, even for most Nixes and Nados that were in space.

Hope to see you return. It's not the same game you left, by a long shot.

Ahhh much better. Spork and singleshot thanks for spelling it out for an old timer. That makes much more sense because the defiler was crap when I was around, so I missed a proxy buff to it and had no idea the changes made to make it the MF era.

I wouldn't say any of the ships have been 'boosted' to the intensity's insanely overpoweredness. But it sounds like progress was made at least.

Too bad my Quant was only level 26 I'd have liked to have tried out the Nado and its changed stats. Though I'm fairly certain its quite easy to level now given all the various mission types.

Could always bring back my Oct too, I just never enjoyed the Chirp or Raven much...

The quants need pilots more than the octs right now, that's for sure.

The quants need to adapt more than anything now. The shoot and flee for 5k then come back tactic isn't as effective as before. Now it appears to be shoot and flee for 10-15k.

Being an old nix pilot I would like to add one major point for a nix, 1 engine. A laser nix is very capable of running down a 4 ff Tensity due to the longer burn time of ab. A run into oct space without docking facilities now is a death trap for Tensities.

Not as much as for Nixes feld. If they get in to hostile space. So i wouldn't be bringing it as a disadvantage of a tensy.

It was a big deal back in the pre-POS era but the AB doesn't help the nix as much as it used to...fights and running distances are much shorter.

Wasn't saying it was a disadvantage for Tensities, just an extra ff is not as much as an advantage as some people think it is.

Actually now,SS, distances are longer unless you have "sympathetic" pos owners in a hostile factions space. If you have MT tags you can't dock at public poses unless specifically invited nor can you dock at the other faction's station.
