Lightbulb Merger Idea # 1

I'm going to be the first to say it. Maybe I'll be the last to say it.

THIS WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO CLEAN OUT THE SQUAD DATABASE!!!!!

Seriously, The EU folks are going to have to recreate their squads over here. There may be some overlap there, I don't know if there is or not. The is a pile of garbage dead squads and a zillion dead names to go with them. Why not just reset the whole thing to 0 on a certain day and we can begin with a clean slate, not just them, all of us.

It's no big deal to start up a squad and type in some silly mumbo jumbo. It would be a wonderful way to start of with a display of unity, without harm or loss to anyone. Except for the peeps that abandoned us many ages ago and left their garbage behind. That's tough for them, clean squad page for us all.

What ya say peeps?

Personally, I'd rather a more selective cleaning (though I do agree it's got a good bit of [excrement] in the DB), namely squads consisting solely of TRIC accounts or squads lead by them, which isn't a poll option (or at least not as of this post).

I don't know about anyone else, but I personally would rather pass on someone formerly on the EU server coming along and grabbing a squad name with a history behind it, simply because the appropriate squad member was at work or otherwise not available at the time of a mass nukage.

Yeah, like they would get away with that in this community.

I would hate losing access to squad POSes that I (and other active BH) have sunk time and money into that just happen to belong to players who are TRIC. There's a reason Ambro flies Gogo during WoW.

Delete the squads led by TRIC pilots. Leave the rest alone. It's not like the dead squadnames are actually causing harm to the game. In my experience, people join squads based on meeting their representatives in space, not based on their squad page.

The best way for an eur player to come to the US server, is at first simply create an account on the US server, and then provide the GMs with your EU currencies. And then boom you should start out as a level 0 with the cash you have on the EU server.

That's off topic to this poll Powo. And I think that would be a bad and unfair idea.

Yeah I'm sorry about that but what I heard previously about the account transfers is that there would be lots of problems encounterd to a point where it's a big and it's gonna take long time solve this mess.

I would actually say no to the full server reset. But yes to a full squad purge where all the squad's data is erased and not the player's stats.

Had to vote no on this. There's a chance many may come back to check things out with the influx of players and it would be nice if squad structure was still in place for them. There ARE several long time (1-2 years or more) TRI-C 2 and 3 man squads that should probably be cleaned out but I'd maintain all incentives for people to return for a while.

I had to vote No for the reasons stated by Noh and Spork. A selected clean out will be good, get rid of the 1 man Squads that are TRI-C.

Hopefully the squads available now on the server will allow people to join them instead of having 3 three man squads protecting Quant etc....

Or we just look at where we can fit in.

Well, I'm not passionate one way or the other. I like having access to POSes owned by former squaddies, but admit that it's a bit of an exploit. Some of them are no longer even on the squad roles (there was some manual purging done a while back), but their stations remain accessible.

I would rather just see something where squads with NO active members are purged. There are plenty of those.

I voted yes, for a whole clean up of the squads I know that whenever you disband your squad you lose some resources (pos) but the truth is that also allows you to get rid of those inactive pilots, and having those in the roster doesnt help getting new blood to join.

People are more inclined to join a squad that is active, than a big one that has a small ammount of actives. And to those that think that squad page looks doesnt affect enrollment... think again... many of the StormRaider pilots... came because we were one of the few with a picture on their squad page :P (and we were pretty active).

Its a combination of factors.

Another thing is... a clean up will make browsing the page easier
