A mining/econ question

Errr... welll...
Octs dont mine. I got a quant slave tho that is a noob to mining as I had him polishing my nix while I was away.
Please refresh my memory so to teach him ?
US econ is mining based and lots of required commods are being mined to production. Thats fine so far.
1. Would an ore silo provide him with the processing power he needs so to have enough commods to make stuff?
2. Ore being sold to Ore depots is it being processd and delivered to Faction depot stations still?
3. Puring : Would this help more than random roids mining ?
4. Any tips / suggestions?
All help will be welcomed with great appreciation

1) Ore silos just store ore now. They don't deliver it any more.
2) See #1
3) In terms of time/result, it's arguable a best, and some of the short commods are gasses that can't be mined. (Using a Fuel Scoop in a storm is possible, but chasing the storm long enough to gather the goods is annoying.)
4) Do recall that, although Flails do fit in the Vulture, if you're mining you need mining lasers (Prospectors, for the Vulture) in the gun mounts. Burning ammo on rocks doesn't do anything except make you look silly.

It get transfered to the Ore Depot's in space, doesn't it.

If you want the commods from it you have to refine and then sell it to a station

What you need to do is have an understanding of the critical needs in the econ and then focus mining on the ores that produce this item. You can get a snapshot of items with less than 1000 units of total non-POS inventory right HERE.

{Sorry -- link is now fixed}

The POS Ore Processor Mod allows you to refine and save just those commods that are most necessary and offload other things to the nearest station. If you sell raw ore at a POS with an Ore Silo, I believe it goes to your faction Depot. Not sure about Aman, Hyp and Unreg -- refining, though, is the way to go in this econ.

#1 Ore silos let you have better control over what happens to what you mine, and let you mine without flying to a station sector. Unfortunately there is no xp gained.

#2 Ore depots either take your ore if you're full, or give you ore and a mission if you're empty. Someone has to haul it from the ore depot though, it doesn't transport itself.

The ore depot is a good way for miners and ahulers to team-up for short periods.
