moving forward

After reading the last couple of posts, should the server be reset and draw a line under all the history, bad feelings etc.

The plan is to move the time line on 50 years and retire all pilots/squads and start with new pilots and new challenges.

feel free the flame away.

Not sure what you mean. Are you suggesting this?

Personally, I don't think it's a horrible idea, but it will never happen so why even speculate?

The only way I could see this happening would be when warfare patch is fully implemented. And since it is being put together piece by piece rather than one big release, i don't think that'd even work too well. There is some merit to the point, but... like ambro said it won't happen.

It would, at least, give folks a solid reason to come back. Course, i suppose it would also give other folks a reason to leave.

I bet the eventual swing would be in favor of returning pilots, though.

There's another problem with this proposal besides the folks who would leave when their stuff was nuked.

The people behind the keyboards/mice/joysticks will still be the same folks, and I'd be willing to bet a lot of them would be more than happy to just pick up where they left off, as if nothing had really changed, with at most a similar but new squad name.

Have you? Have you? Huh? Jeesh!!!

Burn the land and boil the sea's, you cant take my fluxkills from me.

It was more a discussion point.

the logic was simple, its all too easy to support a griefer / civ ripping account and starting out again would remove all the cash floating around.

The other reason is that if you are "NEW" to the game the chances of staying are low, due to the steep learning curve and everyone else so much further ahead than you. (cash).

But the biggest reason is to draw a line under the all mistakes and bad feeling of the past and start again.

PS

Vorlan starting again would give you a new target to reach plus your kills per hour are slipping. Its a good job your still not in FS, as you would be cleaning the toliets for such poor a Kph

Yeah and Id be eating your crayons too

My mad rampaging against the flux is far from over, I drew the line at 100k kills and effectively slowed down. Now I get to eat swarms and do "squad stuff" too. LOL

I'd be willing to bet that would be the last straw for most people and Jumpgate would truly be dead.

I'm honestly not sure how I'd react to a complete wipe and reset. I've worked very hard to get where I am gamewise. Opti, POS, flux kills, credit pile, etc. Considering how hard it is to MAKE money in the game now, I can see a wipe/reset as a major negative. Having said that though, I'd still have the knowledge and skills (such as they are) that I've developed over the past 4 years of play. I'd still be ahead of any true Noob at the game, even if we were "starting even".

So Spacemonk, I really don't think it would make a positive difference in the game. Many players quite possibly would see this as Seph said, the last straw and would hearald the end of the game. As Ambro suggests, I just can't see Jumpgate risking it, although you do present an interesting conversation point.

The server reset has been an idea since before Ep2 and fear of player withdrawl from all their hard earn'd work being deleted has kept it from becoming a reality whether it is an option or not. It's too much of a business risk for ND to take.
