Question new account activation time?

Hey, folks... Well, after about a 2.5 year hiatus from Jumpgate, and getting utterly burned out on SWG (which, incidentally, is now a steaming pile of dung thanks to the Combat Upgrade rolled live last night) I decided to come fly around a bit more in Jumpgate. I had played Vendetta Online for about a month and a half, but it doesn't have the same flight feel due to the physics engine in Jumpgate. Far easier to handle huge cargo ships, unlike the skill required in Jumpgate.

So, I've just setup a new account by the name manatee. I entered my CC information and the payment was accepted. According to the account information which holds my CC and billing info, the status is "Active/Recurring" as it should be. However, according to the initial "edit my account" login, the account is "cancelled" !

This means, obviously, that I cannot login. The question is, why is this considered "cancelled" ? Does the new account have to be activated by hand?

cheers,
manatee

I might remember that name. Can't forget UZI, anyway.

Re: billing. It has known to take from 30 seconds to infinity, with infinity cropping up more than one would like. Personally, I've yet to activate an account without sending an email. Their system is just that good.

Unhappy

Well, we'll see what they say today (or whenever they reply)...

Just for the record, this is the tail of my error.txt:

Init Keyboard Succeded!
Init App Succeded!
Init Dplay Succeded!
Sent Login Name [manatee]
Login Send message result: Sent OK!
Login complete
Received ship in loc 4
DPN_MSGID_TERMINATE_SESSION
Disconnected from state server. Current location Octavius-Core Station

Setting Video mode to 16
Vertex Process Mode: 64
At Init2d
DD Surfaces Setup OK

---
that error message is confusing... If the login is complete, and it received the ship location then perhaps it IS logging in but then getting dropped. Would a login occur, then the session be terminated once that login is determined to be inactive? I guess that makes sense.

In any case, I set up port forwarding on my router for the required ports - although that did not make any difference and I believe I played Jumpgate before without having to do so. (Same internet connection, same router... different machine).

I am concerned, however, that there is something other than simple account issues because I get the "Welcome, Pilot. You may proceed" voice... However, that could also be meaningless.

Your account is TRI Classified on JOSSH.

At the end of the new account setup, there is 1 last "Activate" button to hit. If you do not hit it (and it is easy to overlook since your CC does go through just fine), then your account will show up as "active/recurring" on PayByCash, but you show up as TRIC on JOSSH and get the exact error/behavior you are describing.

You can try e-mailing Themis (pilot_support@netdevil.com), but that can take from 30 seconds to infinity. I once tried e-mailing over the course of 3 days on this exact issue and then finally just gave up on Themis, created a different character name (remembering to hit that last "activate" button), and went back to PBC and canceled the first one.

Also if you are not a Quant, then you must reset immediately to Quantar. (Seriously, we need the help by far more than the other factions. )

"DPN_MSGID_TERMINATE_SESSI ON" is error.txt's way of saying that you were kicked from the game, generally due to network issues but also the message folks who get booted for cheating see (and a few other instances, but I can't recall them off the top of my head).

As for reactivation, not too long ago I reactivated an account that'd been sitting idle for about a year, and it got reactivated without problems or need for an e-mail.

Granted, the singular of "data" isn't "anecdote".

Always send an e-mail, and send it to billing, not Themis.

just a quick note as I'm out the door. I did hit that activate button, and it showed up as having been activated. What an "odd" system.. heh. oh well, it's small..

catch you folks in a few, I hope... will pop an additional note to billing.

First of all, welcome back to Jumpgate! It's always great to see vets returning.

Just curious, how did the Combat Upgrade make SWG a steaming pile of dung?

indeed i did make it in...

with regard to the combat upgrade, it is too complex to really explain.. if you had played before the 27th, and came back on you'd notice a completely different game. I had unsubbed for a year, and just came back to give it one more shot.. thank God my account is only paid through June.

Frankly I've always thought swg was kind of "broken" and not star-warsy at all... but now my character can't even move (literally) without me dropping boxes of skills i'd earned up until this point... oh.. and many people are getting 1xp for things one level below them (now they have levels... ) and slain by things one level above... or if they kill it, still getting 1 xp...

but anyway, jumpgate is far more fun... it's simple on its surface, has a surprising amount of depth and very good playability. glad to be back.
