Is it that hard to intoduce new GM's? Cuz it would be nice to know they are out there and not lurking.

Apparently, themis is a massive international conglomerate and we (Jumpgate) are just a miniscule fraction of their efforts in the world.

I guess Throny doesn't like people bashing him.

Are things really this bad?

I am curious. Reading the forums (here and on JOSSH) I'm getting the same sinking feeling I got reading PlanetJumpGate a month or two after the game was released. That was the prelude to probably the worst phase as JumpGate's history. (Yeah, even worse than EP2.)

I'm seeing some things that were sadly predictable. "What do you mean, there are no rules governing reg/unreg...?" I had to laugh. Adjustment to the US "you mean I have to mine stuff?" economy was always going to be painful. And it isn't a surprise that old EU players seem to perceive a lack of GM support - they historically had far higher support levels than anyone could provide commercially.

But I'm now starting to read that people, who I know from personal experience wouldn't hurt a fly, getting banned for nothing imparticular. There seems to be a lack on integration between servers - rather an expectation that EU will adjust to US rules. There is a great comment from Lavey of the JOSHS forums in response to the guideline that you can't say anything that wouldn't be heard on US TV - that you can say what you like on Swedish TV. There appears to be a complete failure to understand major cultural differences here. Is Khronos not still around? He of all people must understand these differences. But I'm not sure anyone else at Themis will.

So I sense a situation on the verge of going downhill fast. Are things really that bad?

No, I don't think so. Adjusting is always painful. The vocal are usually not the majority.

This being the key point. You will ALWAYS have a number of people that can only see situations from their perspective, and are just waiting to let the adrenaline and anger loose. It's just unfortunate that they tend to be able to post frequently....

... stop looking at me!

You have to understand that Themis wants Jumpgate to fail. If you look at it from that light, it all makes a lot more sense.

Is that just one of your usual rants, or can you actually substantiate your last statement?

I think most of the initial whining and bad feelings about the economic differences have settled for now, and it appears the GMs are applying gradual tweaks to the economy (like adjusting production rates as suggested by various people on the forums), also the new mining support items and the recent fuel scoop tweak will do their share to alleviate the situation.

It seems to be the current banning policy of the Themis GMs that appears to cause the most trouble. No-one expects to be banned for days for just an occasional swearword or "adult" talk on a private(!) channel; what makes things worse is that any information as to what constitutes inacceptable language or behaviour is buried at various locations on the forums; and the GMs seem not to follow their own rules and guidelines all of the time - which given the fact that they are paid staff shows a severe and almost unacceptable lack of professionalism.

As I said on the JOSSH forums already (but I believe the corresponding thread got - rightfully- deleted), if ND wanted to do the game any good, they should terminate the contract with Themis asap and get in touch with some of the EU GMs and OPs; they can't possibly do worse, plus ND would perhaps save a few bucks as well.

Would it actually help if you sent any GMs a private message about the banning policy.

Because of course, posting it on the thread would sure get deleted.
