Wow. I helped build that thing like 5 years ago.

Freaking lamers.

Big step in terms of sents griefing the player base. I guess it's a good thing that I fly a non shipyard ship, I can keep trash-talking sents!

Eh, anyone who really wants one already has one in a hanger. Except for true noobs. Funny part is the Oct official who said he wished he had a Quant fleet to protect him.

It's true about the hangers.

IMO ships in a hangar should not be replaced if all of the naval yards for the given ship type are destroyed, otherwise the strategic value of destroying such a building is basically non-existant.

Bingo Supermax. There's virtually nothing strategic to fight over in Jumpgate, one of it's major failings, and one Ist is trying to at least somewhat remedy. Ship hulls appearing at stations without the shipyard (such as unreg, POS, or even Oct Core in the case of the MF which was built at OP) has always been a somewhat weak point in the Naval Yard RP.

The best you could RP it would be that lots of hulls are made and stored all over, but due to contractual obligations, purchase of the first hull (i.e. the only time actual credits for hulls ever exchanges hands) has to be at the station with the NY. But it's still weak. A 2 point POS can hold infinite ship hulls, but only up to 700 floor space (assuming a hangar takes 1 mod), that's less than a tug!

good points.

Maybe, we should be reimbursed for the cost of our ships on their destruction and given a noob shuttle automatically in its place - with a menu'd option to re-buy and have delivered that same model of ship you just lost (no matter where your pod goes (POS or Station)) without any tax loss, IF they are available.

That way hangers are just hangers and not magic ship producers (other than the shuttles) and the defence of the naval factories is more relevant to all.

OMG. I can already hear the whining. Everone complains about n00b gear -- n00b hull too? YOWZA.

I remember concluding an Amananth faction mission for the refuel depot in Aman Gate.

That one got destroyed by sents as well.

Second thought..

If the sent flux had the capabilities to destroy POSes, would there be another mass quitting, and then Jumpgate gaining bad publicity.

The whole idea of the community, or significant chunks of it, getting together to build something, Naval Yard, Injustice factory, Anti-flux ecm, Chime radar producer, biomass producers or what ever and then one small group or an individual being able to destroy it is just crap in my view.

You can RP it one way or the other until the cows come home, but in the end you have the actions of a few contervening the works of many and in my book, that's just not fun. That's the bully on the beach stomping your sand castle; the gang-bangers "tagging" your fence, garage or house; punks with paintball markers shooting up peoples cars or houses or my all time favorite, the cheap thieves who steal Christmas decorations.

If this decline contines, and it looks fair to do so or even worse with Istvan's vision of damageable/destroyable buildings by players with out GM intervention, then I forsee even more folk bailing from the game. I've already sworn off on FMs due to this kind of non-fun in the past. When it gets to the point someone can destroy my POS, then I'm out of here.

Some people here and elsewhere sure are jumping to some strange conclusions based on a Sent flux attack identical to those that have been going on for a month at least. The sad truth is that there were Octs online and busy tuning beacs in Quant space when their own faction was grey beac'd and under Sent attack.

Besides, RPers have asked for years that Sents be a real threat and that smaller FMs (the new Chirp FM is 20% done in just 2 days) be used to fix RP damage to help simulate a dynamic universe. If a GM had done something like this back when groups like DDZ, New Dawn, Fatal Shadows, GOD, and MACK together fielded 60+ pilots a night, he would have been a freaking hero. But now, when the game is mechanically the best it's ever been and when the GMs have the best toolset ever and are using them to do things more interesting than "storyteller night"... well, let's just say I don't see anyone on any forums calling GM_K a hero.

And the only way POSes will ever be removed by GM or player is if a player is TRIC a very long time. There's no way Istvan will code something that allows one player or group to kill near a billion credits worth of another active player's stuff.
