An Open Letter to Scorch
Dear Scorch,
Thanks for all you've done with Netdevil. Just like everyone else, I'm very excited that you decided to revisit Jumpgate and ended up making Jumpgate Evolution. However, as we can't play it yet, and as Istvan said that any active Jumpgate accounts are getting first round Jumpgate Evolution beta invites, I was wondering if you'd consider the following: Jumpgate was in the middle of a transition stage when development of Jumpgate was replaced with development of Jumpgate Evolution, from the HG system to the mil system. Since we never got the second part of the mil system, a lot of players that liked to fight for different factions were unfairly stifled. At any rate, I've thought of some what should be really simple changes that would make Jumpgate much more enjoyable to play until the Jumpgate Evolution beta. With no true access to the code, I'm only guessing these are super simple changes to make, but from conversations I've had with devs before I really think they would be.
I don't imagine these changes would take more than a day to implement, and they would certainly make our wait for Jumpgate Evolution a lot more fun and entertaining. Sincerely, David W. (GrimGriz) P.S. - Please hire me ![]() |

Re: An Open Letter to Scorch
Good ideas, after all some of us actually play the game still.
Also they have said that Jumpgate Classic will not be turned off, so surely it still needs supporting. One more thing, define an "active" pilot. Does that mean a paid for account? Or possibly an account that is actually used? If its the latter there shall be some disappointed pilots out there. Smeg |

Re: An Open Letter to Scorch
Dunno smeg, I'm going off the chatlog from the last darkspace dispatch.
Also, in retrospect TRI paying the bounties would be bad. The issue is that they're excessive, not that the criminal pays them. Adding a "divide by 100" to the formula that calculates bounties would be a better way to go. |

Re: An Open Letter to Scorch
He never limited it to active accounts just guaranteed them. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Re: An Open Letter to Scorch
*cough*
In days of old, when rats were bold but Tows could oft out run them. A price was paid for ships waylaid, in terms of risk 'n' ransom... Four morning stars could answer YARRRRRS with flashfires still to follow. And rats would boom while Tows went Zoom, their cargo holds not hollow. But patient rats who stalked like cats still greatly scored their plunder. A balance met, a game safe bet and space had ships to number... Then broken Tows lead pilot woes, as traders were more open. And rats did come, when none could run, and HM's torn asunder. The space lanes cry of "why oh why", read begging for the answer... ...so bounties rose, met pirate lows and chased off were the 'rotten'. No speed returned, no lessons learned and Tows became forgotten. So now with talk of coming home, high bounties are our greeting. When all along a faster Tow would of made our place less fleeting. |

Re: An Open Letter to Scorch
Vorl, I think I may be going out on a limb here, but can I just ask? Do you believe that the tow ought to be put back to pre nerf speeds??
I just get that feeling from you, although I've never seen it before obviously. ![]() Smeg P.S. I agree whole heartedly P.P.S Actually a damn good rhythm too. Although I did think "In days of old" was the start to Led Zeppelins "Ramble on". |

Vorlon31, great job on that poem. Mind if I use it (with proper credit given of course) after my next chapter? (when it's finished who knows when >.>)
