operation save jumpgate!!!
right now whats wrong with the picture?
currently you have another jumpgate fan website(jumpgate web) which has currently turned against the game itself. the original game itself is getting plenty of newbies but hardley any of them are staying because of the lack of helpful automated tutorials to a point where it required a real live person to help them out. jumpgate personally I think needs a better tutorial system. eve online had a good example of that. currently in jumpgate, the tutorial hints don't push it. there needs to be a full tutorial on how to get started with your characters. i've seen loads of level 0s without a single mission complete and a few deaths. if all not possible, mabie one of the fans should make a tutorial on how to get started with the game and have all them newbs get pointed to ONE tutorial not a bunch of countless ones ever at UMEC at first. anyways, I have no more time to type. have any other ideas? this low online numbers in jumpgate is just exactly like the illigal immigration issues. it never gets solved. |

If I didn't have a friend in Jumpgate to explain everything when I started, I would've never gotten anywhere.
This was within one month of retail. Things certainly havn't improved in that respect since then... |

Seven did a good job a couple years back with Tri Trainers. I believe what she did was have vets rotate in for a month, train anyone they could, then return to their regular factional (or whatever) duties. Might be tough to do that nowadays. But if you could muster a couple of people, you could probably get Khronos to put up a TRINN release and spam the in-game announcement channel.

Well, 61 pilots are in squad REGAN. I'd say that the noob squad idea is still alive and well, and working to a point. It's just a matter of transitioning those noobs into factional squads more quickly. Problem is that they form friendships and aren't willing to leave their buddies. That, and because Jumpgate is tough to be good at, no one ever thinks they are ready to move to the next level. I still personally think that I'm an average pvper at best, but I know that due to attrition of those I would call good pvpers, I'm one of the best in space right now. Sad really. Point is that no one ever thinks they are good enough to start the next thing, be it taking on bigger flux or pvp or making that first ultra heavy haul over long distance.
Jumpgate is tough to learn and even tougher to master. But it's gotten much easier on noobs since beta. Ships, gear, flux, docking, and missions are all much more noob friendly now. It's just in a nasty downward spiral of low online numbers which breeds low player retention of both vet and noob. Disk, I find this thread to be in rather interesting juxtaposition to your first post. I hope you've given the game a real chance and are enjoying it. You can look up pretty much any vet in space and get help (both informational and financial). |

I came in the same way.
I used to play the offline at work and read up on JOSSH before I ever got an account. In my opinion, that offline sim is one of the best recruiting tools they have. |

Is Regan still active? I haven't seen a post by her anywhere in a few weeks. And if her squad is still that big, with active players, then they should get with Khronos to spam the bejesus out of the in-game announcement channel, AS WELL AS making a sticky in :help and
lot about what her squad does. If you want to train noobs, you have to cater to all kinds. That includes the diligent kind that spend a few weeks in the offline sim, and the spontaneous kind that download and sign up at the same time. |

i r alive.... i went to my momma's house for a week .... i needed to fester in the country air where internet is something aliens use to abduct people. My squad flourished for a bit... but seems to be dwindling anymore. I've lost a few to Aubrey, a few to JOSSH going down, a few to other games, a few to finances, and a handful still have accounts but i haven't seen them log in for a good month or two.
I have one addicted to baseball and a couple others with school. It is quite frusterating at times. But me still here. I wish people would send a message when they planned on leaving and told me why, but i'm not so lucky.*hugz* ~ Regs |
